I recently stayed at Beyt Salaam during my visit to Lamu. The rooms are incredible — clean, comfortable, and well maintained — with a really good atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
However, the management was quite disappointing. We never got to meet the manager, and on our first night, the electricity was cut off because power tokens hadn’t been paid for. It was only sorted out the next morning.
Breakfast was another letdown. On the first day we were served a very limited Swahili breakfast, and on the second day, there was no breakfast at all because the manager hadn’t left money for the staff to purchase supplies. We had to check out without the breakfast we had already paid for.
Also worth noting — they do not issue receipts for accommodation payments, even when requested.
