Terrible hotel. Do not stay. I originally made this reservation with the intent on staying two nights. Upon arriving to the hotel, I began the checkin process. As he was describing the room, he said it had a fan and good air flow. I paused and asked him if it had air conditioning, per the room details on hotels.com. He paused for a moment and said “no air conditioning” I then mentioned the room reservation said air conditioning, and he said “Ok” and proceeded to check us in. Prior to him finishing, I asked if I could view the room as it seemed a bit skeptical given his original response. He took us to a room that was not as described in the listing.||The air conditioner was not working. It was blowing room temperature air. Also, the room was currently occupied as there was a bag, toiletries, sandals, and a backpack in the room. He said the air conditioner would get colder, yet we stood there for 5 minutes and it was the same temperature. It was clear this was not working, as there was a flashing light indicator on the air conditioner that was indicating there was a problem. I asked if there was another room and he said no. Additionally, the room had a musty smell, like smoke or another substance. On the listing smoke free, and given allergies it was not an option. The best part is that they refused to refund the credit card when we did not stay. One easy dispute to my credit card took care of that problem. Stay FAR away...
Read moresunsail hotel is perfectly located right opposite the Lamu jetty...as you got off the boat..just walk left and you have arrived!! it is a decent, clean hotel..for kshs 3000, I had the room to myself..twin Swahili bed..very comfty...and a single bed on the side where I could just dump my stuff ;) the room had an air conditioner which worked perfectly...had a nice sleep...the breakfast at the rooftop terrace was splendid...a spread of fresh fruits, juice, choice of omlette with toast, tea/coffee...and the view was breath taking...also a great place to watch the daily activity of the locals...the staff were friendly...helped you out with whatever questions you may have...it was totally worth the price especially during holiday season. expect to carry your own towel, shampoo and other toiletries you may need. they provide toilet paper and a small soap...but that is hardly a complaint for a budget hotel with the price it offers. had a great...
Read moreSmoked a lot of Dope up on the roof of this place where my bunk was. But that was in 1986 not sure it's allowed now. Used to watch the Swahili Guys with dreadlocks coming onto the white European Girls. Those Dudes were a bit worried because I was 25 years old and pretty cut too but when they saw I wasn't there to take their action with the White Ladies then they left me alone. Does this sound racist - I hope not because I respect those Swahili guys living well their ways and hey if a Lady wants to support her Lover financially - boleh see The Web's Largest Dictionary · Indonesian · English_- it...
