The place is inconveniently located beyond the Poring Hot Springs tourist destination. It may not be worth staying here if you're planning to just visit the Hot Springs. Just stay somewhere else and book a taxi to get to the tourist destination for a day trip.

Unexpecting guests will be surprised that they will have to trek 15 to 20 minutes to the Hot Springs tourist destination from KPVL. Walking on unpaved paths, crossing streaming water and walking on mud are few of the inconveniences when visiting the Hot Springs if coming from KPVL. Food establishments are located only in the Hot Springs area so you're out of luck if you get to KPVL without any packed food.

The place itself is a nice farmhouse. You may get a chance to feed chickens and ducks. Bugs and moths are a common sight in the area during night time. If you are not fond of insects flying over you or crawling on your shirt, you may find the night time annoying. The outdoor area is generally clean. You'll only find leaves and grass on the ground. The airconditioned rooms are fairly decent. The room that I got was furnished with 1 big bed, 1 double decker and a huge table. A family of four will conveniently fit in a room. The bathroom has hot shower and a working bidet and toilet flush, though the exhaust fan and sink needs maintenance. Towels are provided.

Free wifi has decent speed but you will have to be by a close proximity to the kitchen area. Hot water is free for your coffee and instant noodles. Use of the microwave is also free. Bottled water, cup noodles and canned soda are sold with...

If Poring Hot Spring is in your itinerary then you might want to consider this place. It is a quiet place to stay. The hosts are very friendly, warm and speaks good English hence don't worry upon check-in. However, don't expect a 3 stars accommodations if you are booking a 3 bedroom unit.||||To start off, the distance from the Hot Spring to the lodge is about 2km but, upon entering there is no street light hence, it is advisable to pack your meal/foods before checking in. Alternatively, you can order food from the menu provided by the hosts and order is closed by 1900hrs. Expect the unexpected when your food arrived. ||||The hosts provide a very basic accommodation and the one that we booked was quite rundown as for example, the floor mat was uneven and not well maintained. The tv was not working well. Additionally, it is a shared cable with the owner's unit. Other than that, we felt that there are rooms for improvements as for example the hosts should have provided a place to hang the towels at the toilet, a proper shelves for putting our toiletries and the toilet room is very small. Be warned as, for 3 bedroom unit there is no towels provided but the hosts are good enough to give us at least 3 towels since the rest of the family members did brought their own towels. (phew!)||||It is indeed such a nice place but we felt that the hosts should improve...

My family of four stayed at Kinabalu Poring Vacation Lodge for a few nights while visiting Mt Kinabalu and nearby areas.

The homestay is a bit hard to find in the dark and pretty far from restaurants. The incredibly relaxed and generous host, Jay, will help you to order delivery but it’s a good idea to bring some fruits or other things with you to keep in your room.

The area around the homestay is beautiful and the rooms were comfortable and quiet. The aircon was a bit on and off, but we were there in the middle of summer and it was more than cool enough at night with the fans as it’s at such a high altitude.

The place is about 40 minutes drive to Mr Kinabalu main gate, but beware of the traffic in Ranau during the morning and evening school dropoff time!

We will definitely stay again on our next trip through Ranau, thanks for a...

Very, very quiet, friendly and accommodating hosts. We were here for 4 days and especially enjoyed the hike to the waterfall, but also the canopy trail (a kind of suspension bridge between the jungle giants) and the swimming pool (Poring Springs) were good and within walking distance. In addition, there is a creek nearby where our kids enjoyed playing, an orchid farm and a butterfly farm. So it won't be boring there in the village, but where there are all the necessary things for daily needs. The property itself is dressed wild garden of Eden with large fish tanks and homemade water wheels. My husband went with the host to Ranau to the market and was thrilled. We were also driven to the bus when we left, the host's mother helped us with the laundry. For me, the view from the huge terrace directly in front of our room was the absolute highlight.

The place is not as published. The unit we stayed was filthy. Facilities provided is not satisfactory. We had to get together and clean up, rearrange, tidy up the "exclusive" kitchen. It was oily and dirty. The fridge had to be cleaned up too. Only the master room has an air condition, the other two rooms only fans. The carpet was torn and dusty. TV screen condition was in bad shape. It had lines on the screen. If it was published as a farm home we would have just accepted as is. There isn't a functioning Business Centre as published. The reception was very untidy and not welcoming at all.
