You have to get off at the Barat station pier and walk pass the Barat resort to get to Mama. And no real beach for Mama but you have your own beach chair under the trees which is very nice also. I took a nap one time but please aware of mosquitoes so do not forget to bring the spray and sunscreen too.||||Moreover, it's very convenient to go to the Perhentian beach by walking, no need for water taxi. And from there you can hike in the jungle to another beach, floral bay with less than 30 minutes. And at Perhentian Island Resort (PIR) beach you can snorkel and see turtles, big blue fish and nice coral. ||||What I love most here is the people, they are very nice, calm, friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant is good, local food and reasonable price. They have boat service, day trip, rental. On the last day, my boyfriend got some food poison and we did not even tell anyone but one guy noticed that my bf was not so well. He came and recommended some medicine and it helped a lot. So we survived quite ok on the bus back home.||||You have to bring your own shampoo, shower gel and tissue paper, if not you can buy at the resort also. And for drinking water, you can buy here also and it's the cheapest compare to other resort or minimart.||||BTW, If you want something fancy you can eat at the Barat bear by is also some nice BBQ dinner and a bit fancy lunch but very recommended. ||||The bungalow is wooden and a bit old but good maintenance. The air-con works well but cut every 6 hours. During the day maybe too hot to stay in the bungalow but we enjoy being outside anyway. There are so many things to do. Going to turtle bay for some nice swimming with the big wave, to long beach for some nice cafe and fancy restaurant. Again you can hike to the windmill point, less than 30 mins and the view from there is very worth...
Read moreOwn by local, a stay here would allow you to experience the local lifestyle. I stayed in a fan chalet. The wooden chalet, although a bit old, was well maintained. The bathroom was spacious nevertheless, towels provided but not toiletries, so if you plan to stay here, bring your own toiletries and toilet paper.||||The fan chalet was unbearably hot during the day, so I seek refuge under the row of trees at the beachfront. The trees were shady and surprisingly cooling under their shade. The sand at the beachfront was cleaned daily to remove excessive dry leaves and other debris. The hot chalet also led us to spend more time on outdoor activities. Night time, the chalet would cool down when the windows were opened, and we relied on mosquito coil to repel mosquito attack, and it worked.||||There was a restaurant and reception cum water taxi station at the northern side of the chalet. The restaurant served both local and Western food of average quality. However do try out the seafood BBQ for dinner; I had very well grilled squid and prawns, and came with delicious sauces with a twist of local recipe of spices, rice, sauted vegetable and few slices of fruits.||||Other attractions were very accessible from here, for it was at the centre of these attractions such as PIR beach (by foot and water taxi), Teluk Keke (by foot and water taxi), Long Beach (by water taxi) and local village (by water taxi). I was happy with the local style lodging experience of staying here, and among the local family who...
Read moreHad a wonderful and peaceful stay at Mama Chalet, Pulau Perhentian Besar. If you’re looking for a relaxing spot away from the busier Long Beach, this is definitely a great choice.
Chalet sangat bersih dan selesa. The room was well-kept, tidy, and complete with all the basic necessities. The toilet was exceptionally clean — no stains or unpleasant odours. Kebersihan memang terbaik. The surroundings were also well-maintained, giving a very calm and homely vibe.
Staff pun sangat friendly dan banyak membantu sepanjang kami di sana. Their hospitality memang buat rasa selesa and welcome.
However, there are a few things that could be improved. Firstly, no drinking water or Coway/RO water was provided at the canteen or common areas, which might be a bit inconvenient for guests — especially those on a full board package.
I also took the full board package, which included all meals and was supposed to include a BBQ dinner on the second night. Unfortunately, no BBQ, and we were only served fried fish and sotong celup tepung. Additionally, most meals (lunch and dinner) were very fish-heavy — would be great to have more variety.
For the snorkelling trip, the package mentioned 5 points, but on the actual day, we only covered 4 points. Not a huge issue, but it would be better if the package details were consistent with the...
