Me & a group of 6 friends check in the chalet on 25/6. We bought the VIP package at RM240 each, 2d1n. The meal is so-so only. The service was poor. Certain staffs were unfriendly at all. Do not book the VIP package as it was not worth it.
Case #1 Everything was just fine during the arrival. While checking in our room, we found that the air conditioner is not cold enough even though is 16C. We informed the staff during dinner time and a friendly boy told us will send a table fan to our room. We decided to go to the concierge to get the fan ourselves after the stroll. Me & one of my friends try to find around the chalet for a staff but unfortunately nobody there. It was about 10pm, my friend called the PIC to ask for a fan from them. (FYI, the room temperature is 16C but feel like 25C, it felt warm especially when many people stayed in a room) It was all OK until an uncle knocked on our door. He came with a FIERCE face and interrogated us “who said the air conditioning is not cold?”, “why you all didn’t check properly before calling us?”, “We slept already, can you all just give us a rest?” (我们已经睡了,你们可以给我们早一点休息吗?. He assumed that all rooms come with a table fan, why our room doesn’t have it? Where is the fan gone? Err, are we supposed to know why? We were like all standing there blankly and scolded by him.
Case #2 My friend found that the water heater is malfunctioning. We asked the uncle to check when he came, and he checked and told us the heater is not in function. And he just left after that. (Don’t ask us why we didn’t ask to change another room, we dare not because just get “scolded”).
During the check-out time on the next day, the uncle came to apologise to us. Personally, feel that am I supposed to accept his apology? No, I’m sorry I don’t think so. You had spoilt our mood & frightening us last night. We shouldn’t get scolded for paying RM240 x7 (RM1680). Are we deserved the scold because all of us are female? Or are we deserved to get scolded because we are paying in RM? Side story: my friend did Watspp the PIC after our trip. The PIC just replied “万分感激“ emoji not even a ‘sorry’. What else more to say? Is better to post in Google review to let the public know. So be wise when you want to choose a chalet in...
Read moreOur recent weekend trip to Kukup turned out to be a disappointing experience. Despite paying RM230 per person, which included tea time, dinner, supper, and breakfast, the overall experience was far from what we had anticipated. The resort's environment was unremarkable, and the entertainment options were limited to a single karaoke set with a small TV and mahjong. The shared pool in the common area was unclean.
The true ordeal began during tea time. Upon reaching the canteen, we were met with a lengthy queue for the fried mee hon, and the prawn crackers were severely limited, with only a few pieces being fried at a time. Considering that there were over 100 people from our group and other guests, the canteen was overcrowded and chaotic, it seems like a refugees.
For dinner, we were expecting a BBQ, but turned out to be a hot and cramped affair in a corner. Despite requesting the lady boss to open the air cooler, her assurance went unfulfilled. We ended up switching it on ourselves, only to find out that it was malfunctioning. The dishes that arrived were underwhelming, featuring vegetables, fish balls, microwaved satay, wu xiang, a small plate of steamed small prawns, lala, squid and stingray. The uninspiring presentation left me with no appetite.
Supper further disappointed with red bean soup lacking red beans and fish porridge devoid of fish. The next morning's breakfast was slightly better, but checking out was not easy for some of us because we had to walk a long way to get to the parking area.
The hotel staff acted like they were too busy or confused, which just made things more frustrating. It's clear that the hotel needs to get better. Honestly, I don't want to come back here.
In conclusion, I would strongly advise against staying at Kukup Mangrove Floating Chalet. The subpar accommodations, limited amenities, and disappointing meals do not justify the exorbitant price tag. The resort's management needs to make significant improvements in all aspects of its operations to provide a more pleasant and worthwhile experience...
Read more》DETAILED REVIEW BELOW《 A nice challet with a number of facilities, and within close range of the local attractions. A good place for a large family trip to Kukup Rooms: ●●●●● A lot of bedrooms in each apartment, each with 4 beds. The toilet is very big and has as many as 6 cubicles! The living room comes with a mahjong table and a Karaoke set that has international selection of music.
Food: ●●●●○ The food is not the best but the dinner is quite nice. The food served changes each day of the week. The food is free flow, and its all-you-can-eat. For 24 hours there will be drinks provided. (I can't confirm that drinks are available at times past 12 midnight as they only refill in the daytime)
Amenities: ●●●●○ There is this bridge at the end of the challet where you can fish in the evening, there is a chance of catching a rather big fish. You can also get a ride on their mini truck to the nearby places, the ride through the street is nice and windy. However, I MUST WARN that for Wi-Fi lovers you have to try your luck as some rooms in the challet have a weak connection. _■ Things to do around there ■ There is really not a lot to do in Kukup, but there are some things which people go there for: 》Kukup Island (I have a full review in the location itself) Kukup Island is a nice place to walk around and enjoy the fresh air and scenery. 》Local fish farm There are boat rides to the local fish farm. There you can see the fish they raise and the people there will also teach you about the fish, which is an eye opener and pretty good...
