I went to Kukup with my husband to enjoy our day trip together yesterday, so we both decided to have lunch at this restaurant. All i can say is the service is terrible and we waited 35 minutes for our food upon ordered. Since only 2 of us so we only ordered 2 dish and rice. After long wait our fish have arrived, and i found it weird why they dont send our fish and squid at the same time since squid cooked more faster then fish. We both try to be posivite about it but after 10 minutes with our rice left half we cant wait any longer and asked the staff. The staff told us that our order not been receive by the kitchen, she annoyingly asked us whether we still want the squid or not. With that kind of response I imediately lost my appetite and decide to left. At cashier, our receipt did state squid dish so my husband said we did not receive any squid bcoz ur staff said the kitchen didnt receive our ordered, so they talk among themselve about then the staff said actually our squid was sended to the wrong table. So the cashier have to reedit our receipt and apoligize to my husband about this issue. I feeled so disappointed how unsystemaic their service with the food that only taste average, luckily the fish is fresh. But i really dont enjoy my time at the restaurant and will not recommend any of my family and friend to come to...
Read moreWe had the black pepper crabs, butter prawns, snapper steamed hk style, salted egg crayfish and fried rice.
The seafood were all fresh and delicious, especially the crayfish. Didn't really like the fried rice cos it seems to be fried kampong style with too much onions and the crabs were expensive! RM270 for 1.5kg (2pcs) but I guess no choice since it's a tourist area.
Didn't really like the service too cos they don't allow you to specify how many pieces you want. They decide the portion based on the no of pax you specify. We actually wanted to order 1 crab first to see or at least order 2 crabs in 2 different flavours instead of just 1. But too bad they don't allow.
Same for the crayfish, they gave us 3pcs when we actually feel that 2pcs is enough for us to share. So pls be aware of this...
Read moreI recently visited the new Kukup Restaurant on a weekday after lunch hour, and I was pleased with the fast service. The restaurant's location right beside the jetty offered nice sea view.
We ordered 7 dishes for 4 people, and the standout dish was the steam fish Hong-Kong style. It was fresh and delicious. However, the Mussel fry with garlic was fresh but lacked flavor. The Qing long miao vegetable was decent, while the lala soup was quite good.
The salted egg crayfish was delicious, but the kam heong crayfish fell short of expectations. Found Indonesian claypot prawn too mild in flavor. It lacked the bold and authentic spices.
Although the seafood is fresh and price was reasonable, some dishes may have room for improvement in...
