Xiang chalet would have been a decent place if you’re staying at Kukup for the first time. However, having been to other chalets in Kukup, this is by far the worse experience.
Location Objectively, the location is great although it’s the furthest chalet along the coast. Being at the end gives us ample space to hang out without being constantly disrupted by motorbikes or other guests. However, this also means that the walk out is longer than other chalets.
Facilities The rooms were decent, but if you’re looking for a private accommodation with family/friends, this is not recommended. Xiang chalet offers up to 100 pax with each room housing 10-15 people, but it comes with a lot of communal areas; dining area is shared, play area is shared. There are other chalets where you can book the entire apartment/house (30+ people). Other facilities were limited as well. No pingpong table, pool table, and fishing like what the other chalets offer. The gym’s condition was extremely poor, nothing like what the picture depicted. No aircon, and every machine was broken.
Service Very rude staffs in general. My family did not feel welcomed upon reaching the jetty. The main coordinator gave a very hostile and unfriendly vibe. There were lot of additional services (option for massage, coconut pudding, bike rental, fireworks, etc) were pushed to us immediately even before we settled into the accommodation. Honestly (& to be fair), he might did it out of good intentions but the way he executed it felt hostile, making us feel like he was more keen on “earning our money”. During dinner, the staffs started clearing the tables very rudely even when some of the family members were still eating. The arrangements for massage was very messy as well, with a lot of miscommunication around the number of masseurs available. The masseurs (mostly males) were...
Read moreWe'll not book this homestay if we have other options. All other homestay were fully booked. We tried to lower our expectations but their service was unexpectedly worse than expected. It's spacious but lack of manpower, e.g. the person who was supposed to pick us up at 2 pm was unreachable from the previous night until the next day 2.30pm. We waited there until 3pm. It's the only homestay that have to go in by boat (no tuktuk car provided). But they didn't provide any life jackets while the boat was overload, e.g it was written on the vessel that only 12 people is allowed but more than 30 people was on the boat. It's very irresponsible because kids on the boat could drop into the sea. It's not a safe vessel. On the day we checkout, they came to knock on our door at 10.30am and in a very rude way told us to catch the last vessel to go back. First thing, they didn't tell us about the last vessel (which later we found out it's a lie). Second, they shouted at us. Although the facilities here were ok, but the holiday mood was totally ruined. Avoid this homestay...
Read moreOverall experience is great as the room is facing the sea (unblock) whereby you get to see both sunrise and sunset. The wind is strong. It takes you 15 to 20 mins walk from the Jetty to the homestay. The breakfast is so so only if you don't mind (packet nasi lemak, porridge, fried noodles, and some snacks). The homestay come with a mini gym. If you just want a getaway without any entertainment, this will be a good place to stay with.||||Room booked: Sea View Room||||The setback is...||||1.
