PALAZZO HOTEL KULAI — Hotel in Johor

We missed our flight from JB so needed somewhere to stay for a night. This hotel had good reviews but was only a 1 star, so I was a bit nervous. I needn't have been. It was far better than the hotel we vacated in Singapore, which was more than 3x the cost.||||We paid for a superior room as it was only about £2 more (approx £20 total - bargain!) and it had everything we needed. Nice and clean, quiet, good wifi, very nice bathroom, comfortable bed, a decent TV with movie/sports channels, friendly staff. ||||There's a shopping center over the road, which is a bit dull and dated, but we had dinner there. There are other outlets nearby too, but we didn't venture far.||||If you want to stay near the airport or are passing through JB then this hotel is a great place to stay. We would definitely stay here again.||||Oh and we really appreciated the transfer to the airport (25 RM). The driver drove sensibly, in stark contrast to the lunatic taxi driver who took us there from the airport...

This hotel is new, about 1.5 year old. We were on an impromptu trip and overnight stay. Having no expectation, this hotel turned out to be perfect. Really value for money. The 4 of us just paid ~$160 MYR. ||Really basic. Air condition was in the room, not centralized. Hot water heater was also instant and not via hot water tank. But they all worked and in perfect condition. Basic toiletries were provided with towels. Bed - We ended up pushing the beds to join as the super single can't really sleep 2. The only thing complain was the pillows being super soft.||Location. We drove. Hence, it is just 5 mins from a major Aeon shopping mall or 10 mins from Premium outlet. ||Security. We checked in for 1 night last Friday, 18th Nov. Inquired with the night reception (indian guy) regards to the airport transfer fees and was informed that it will be 30RM. the next morning, upon arrival at senai airport, we were told that the fare is based on the meter reading. of course we were shocked but looking at how the uncle issued the printed receipt and even gave his name, we knew that he wasn't lying. he informed us that he has always informed the hotel that the fare will be charged accordingly by the meter. ||||to be fair, the hotel is new & clean BUT bcos of the misleading info, it felt...
