I chose the Seri Malaysia Mersing because I thought it would be a nicer option than the hostels closer to the jetty. It wasn't. The posted pics make it look nicer than it is. See new pics below.
The staff were lovely at check in and check out but aside from that this hotel has little to recommend. The entire property is basically in disrepair. In line with other reviews the bathroom is particularly shocking noting it appeared to have been cleaned it is just in such a bad state that there isn't much the cleaning staff could do. Also there must have been water running as I put the bath mat on the floor and the entire thing was soaked the next morning. I wore flip flops the entire time.
Finally- while I think the whole area is safe, I was a bit scared as when I got to my room the door wasn't fully closed/locked. In addition, there was an interior adjoining to to the next room and it didn't have a lock on it! Thankfully the people in the next room never came through the door but this is unacceptable.
To note: the hotel is also 15 minute walk from both the jetty and the bus stop. I haven't been able to find taxis/ get a Grab in town so it was a haul to get there at 1:30am and hot to walk to the ferry today. My recommendation is to stay at one of the hostels, acknowledging accomodation is limited...
Read moreThe location of the hotel is great. It's only a 5-minute drive to the jetty, and there's an open car park right next to the hotel. In the evening, food vendor stalls open up in the car park, and there's also a food stall just behind the hotel. A hospital is conveniently located right opposite the hotel. One thing I really appreciated was the location. Plus, the hotel faces the sea, which offers a beautiful view. However, the building appeared abandoned and eerie. The surroundings & pool area were completely misleading and nothing like what was shown on Agoda. For me, the room experience was very disappointing. I stayed on the second floor in a sea-facing room, but it was poorly maintained. The bedsheet and pillows are clean and smell nice. The toilet was very small, the sink and the walls were dirty. I don’t mind if a hotel looks a bit run-down from the outside, but at the very least, the room especially the toilet should be clean, smell fresh, and feel hygienic. Please improve the housekeeping and overall maintenance. Unfortunately, there aren't many hotel options in this area — but that’s even more reason for this hotel to step up its standards. The location has potential, but the room condition really let the...
Read moreStayed at Room 116, Family Room. Here are some recommendation list for a better service hotel:
Toilet door MUST be changed. Its only a matter of time that the lower part of the door collapse.
WC not stable as it doesn’t properly fit on the floor.
The bed lamp on the left side of the bed is not properly fitted on the wall. The wiring can be seen clearly.
The beddings, pillow casings , blankets and towels need to be changed to new ones. Especially the towels.
Water heater not working.
Last but not least, the reception area is so dull and doesn’t attract guests at all. This area should be lively as this is the entrance to the hotel and it carries the image of Seri Malaysia Mersing.
Seri Malaysia Mersing is undoubtedly has lots of attractions at its surrounding areas as it is situated in a beautiful vicinity.
It is such a loss should nothing is being done to enhance the quality of this hotel to a better prospect.
I’ve seen other Seri Malaysia Hotels and they have emerged into a comfortable venue and able to get their guests to come back and stay their their hotels again and again......
