Ok so, 14 of us go for a holiday to Port Dickson and my sister in law chose De Serenity. I have to say that I didn't expect what actually greeted me. The place was simply superb! When we arrived, we found that the toilet upstairs had some issues and informed the owner Ms Malini who was there within 30 minutes (she stays in Seremban town). She and her husband tries to sort out the issue but to no avail. She then refunded us RM200 for the inconvenience. Kudos to honesty!
Firstly, the view. We were blanketed by lush greenery (literally in the middle of a jungle) and a panoramic view of the lush mountains enveloped by heavy mist. Words cannot describe the beauty of nature.
Secondly, the cleanliness deserves a 4* (except for a foul smell emitting from what we suspect is the water outlet in the toilets. However, the owner, Ms Malini said she is aware of this and will be doing a digging up to sort out the issue). The rooms, bathrooms, living rooms, pool area as well as the swimming pool was nearly spotless. The pool at night with the lights is simply irresistible.
Thirdly, the facilities. TOP NOTCH!!! Cutlery, utensils, toiletries are fantastic! We were even given a whole bottle of Nescafe Gold, 3 loaves of bread, butter, jam and 3 bottles of Peel & Fresh orange juice. Whatz that if not outstanding customer service?
Fourthly, the customer service. The customer service and warmth provided by Ms Malini is nothing short of OUTSTANDING. I told her directly that whilst there are many Homestays in Malaysia, what most of them are lacking is customer service and she nailed it.
So in a nutshell, this place is a must for family gathering where you are actually FORCED to have face to face communication as telco lines are really bad up there. I think this is an outstanding idea as many of us now do not have much face to face communication drugged by technology.
The Plus points of this place: You are smack in the embrace of mother nature You are literally home with everything provided Extremely clean and comfortable with parking space enough for 3 cars. Fresh towels, bedsheets, comfortable pillows all are very welcoming. Mesmerizing and hypnotic view of mother nature The fantastic electric BBQ pit so nicely placed downstairs and covered
The Negative points of this place: The smell from the toilet (which will be sorted out soon) The uninvited 'visitors' such as bugs and insects pay a visit at night (what do you expect being blanketed in mother nature's embrace)
Having said all this, I summarize our stay as WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET & it is a heavenly place for family and friends bonding. Bonding witnessed and approved by...
Read moreOur family chanced upon de serenity online when were looking for a place to stay a night during CNY holidays. We booked the JR house for a night. For 8 of us. The price was slightly steep due to peak period. Price includes packed nasi lemak with fried chicken breakfast. It’s a short drive away from KL (about 40mins). It’s in the forest uphill. We were wowed by the nature and the peace surrounding this property. We were so excited to be shown around the JR house which we learnt from one of the owners Malani that it was built by her husband on his own @ the age of 70! Amazing stuff. You have a kampung field to it and the place is so clean and well maintained! No aircon, so enjoy the coolness of the forest (best during the evenings and early morning – wake up for the view and the mist). The kitchen, dining and living rooms are on the upper level (best view!) and the 4 rooms with 2 adjoining bathrooms are at the lower level. We were told by Malani that noise should be very minimal due to neighbours restrictions. For a minimal fee of RM50, Malani prepared items necessary for BBQ (charcoal, plastic plates/cups, tongs etc). The bbq pit is really easy to use and very clean. We were amazed at how everything in the house was so clean and spacious! The kitchen is fully equipped (stove, toaster, cutleries, utensils, pots, pans, cups etc etc). Just bring your oil and necessary food items to cook. 2 big packets of peel fresh juices, butter, jam, salt, sugar, coffee, tea, creamer were provided. No shops around (10-15 minutes drive down) so get everything before you drive up. Malani was very helpful with all the information needed. We met her husband briefly and they showed us around the property and also showed us the new house which he is building now at the age of 78!!! Nice clean pool (shared by JR house and 2 other smaller rooms for 2 pax each). Thru Malani we booked a guide to bring us for jungle trekking and we really loved it. The small waterfall which he brought us to was so clean with ice cold water. Loved the experience and we cannot wait to get back to JR house!||||** People with entomophobia might find it a bit scary to stay here as it is an open property in the midst of the forest and there can be flying insects...
Read moreI took a 1 hour 23 minute drive from Subang Airport to this hill side B&B. While its a straight road via LIKAS Highway, it was fairly an easy drive and comfortable one despite it being the Chinese New Year holidays.Once you enter Jelebu town , you are taken to a rustic place that smells fresh air , friendly people and most of all must try Sugar Cane water. This is a stall that you definitely need to pass.A quiet town that has all your necessary shops and mini marts. Please note that De Serenity is a homestay vacation. So you need to buy your own groceries for lunch & dinner. Though you can ask the owner to prepare this for you. Once you reach a single lane road , don't fret , its a 5 minute drive to De Serenity. The road is not the best of roads so do drive slow. Occasionally if there is an on coming car , one need to move to the side so both can pass. This is a norm and everybody gives way. As soon as you see the sign The Shore , turn right into the gate and keep right. You will a NO Fishing pond and just after that on your left you will pass Desini home-stay and the next home-stay 5 meters down the the left is De Serenity. Get ready to be greeted by the owner Malini , a true charm of person. The rest I leave it to her to explain. One activity that is a must is the Hike up to the waterfalls. Make sure you request for Vijay as your hikking guide. A nice gentleman who really takes concern and care especially for the kids that come along. A bbq grill was a great touch. Every detail is thought of here. Yes I would definitely...
