Flamingo Homestay ( Port Dickson ) — Hotel in Negeri Sembilan

Stayed here recently with my family, but it was disappointing as when we checked in the rooftop barbeque area had sharp plastic pieces, satay sticks and other hazards which is alarming especially if you have children around. We had to complain which they management claimed they have cleaned but they finally sent someone to clean once we provided images.

Some of the cutleries and the BBQ Grill was rusted, we had to go and use our own money to purchase a new BBQ Grill. When we escalated this to the management their response was "Rust can occur if items are left unwiped or wet after use. While this may affect appearance, the items remain safe once properly cleaned. We will refresh these items where necessary, but they do not amount to a loss of value for the entire booking." Basically they expect us to clean it or wait for them to replenish them so we paid the homestay rent for subpar service on this point.

On the last night, 2 rooms starting to have water leaks. We have sent them videos and pictures. Our belongings and things got wet and water was pooling around the electrical outlet on the floor. The managements response was the leaking has occurred near a window which can be opened and they suspect the leaking is from an open window, we have told them the window was not open and if the window was open the curtains should be soaking wet but it was not. And there was leaking in the hall where there were no windows at all but they conveniently did not talk about this part. We had elderly people and small children which could not sleep for a few hours in the middle of the night as we had to clean and find a safer place for them to sleep, some of them had to sleep on the floor in the hall.

I then requested compensation of at least 50% of the rent, as I was being fair because we did stay there but we did not get full value for our stay as this has breached a few sections of CPA 1999. We paid RM2800 for a standard of service but we did not get the full service so for Users we have the right to request for Compensation, similarly the management would expect us to use their facility with responsibility and we are held accountable is something is damaged or spoiled. I even mentioned that I will escalate this issue to the higher authorities which is in the process.

The Management basically gave the following as their final decision "Your request for RM1,400 refund is not acceptable. We will only refund the security deposit of RM300. The water leakage cannot be taken as a reason, and the other facilities were in good condition and used during your stay.

This is our final decision."

They did not even take the time to negotiate or be responsible or compassionate homestay owners to discuss and resolve the issue. So beware when you are renting here, this case shows the type of management this is. They only want to make money and wash their hands of taking any responsibility what so ever and not address the issue. Water leaking and rusted cutleries are not "serious" issues for them to consider it seems. They tried diverting the leakage issue by trying to pin the blame on us by saying the window might have been open but they conveniently to their advantage ignore the leakage in the hall where no windows were nearby. I have uploaded snips of images but I do have videos as well of the hall leaks, other leaks and others as well. For some reason I am not able to upload them.

They also have claimed that another tenant stayed after us and there were no problems but I re-iterated that has nothing to do with us, our stay was not of acceptble quality based on CPA 1999 and the price paid. If you buy a car from Proton, and your fuel pump got issues Proton will provide remedy under the warranty period, Proton will not tell you " Eh other cars sold after you is fine so we cannot cover your fault even under the warranty period". For my situation a service was provided not a product and there is no warranty period so we as the consumer can request for...

It's a nice place for family & friends gatherings. Whole unit with full air conditioning. The design is great like big bungalow. When we enter the place, it was spacious and clean. Well equipped with pool table which can change as ping pong table as well. There is a table football as well. Some toys children toys provided in a the corner of the living room. Although written no parties allow i guess it’s standard rules to avoid people make crazy stuff in the unit. Just we dont understand they recommend us to do steamboat at rooftop but no table or chairs there so we just had our steamboat near their dining area. kitchen appliances and cutlery provided there. Comes with fridge and water dispenser.

Rooms are clean and spacious. They provide us with extra mattress if you need. Just that the pillow is quite hard .

For smoker there is a smoking at the balcony. And rooftop for kids swimming too bad the inflatable pool tears off and water leaking. So we didn’t manage to let the kids swim. And the pool suitable for small toddlers not for kids. Quite small.

For your information, the whole building consists of ground floor, 1st floor and rooftop. We rent the 1st floor where living room and bedrooms are located. Rooftop we didn’t use as nothing there just the broken pool. The ground floor is actually an office. Quite numbers of ppl working so it’s better not making so much noise. Luckily sunday they off , so we have some privacy.

We found there are 2 cctv in the living room which we feel no privacy at all. Call owner to clarify but she said tge cctv is not working. We check on it, the cctv light is on. Call owner again, she said the cctv is plug on but not recording. We don’t understand what she means. Then we cover the cctv with some cloth bcoz this is family trip, we might not wear proper in the living room. And cctv not sure on or off, we dont talk anything private in the living room to avoid any conflict.

Liked the hall it's big, good for big crowd. Games were good too. The setback was only came to know when we were there the homestay is at the 2nd floor which is inconvenient for children and elderly. It's not mentioned in the preview for booking. The premise is an office turned into a homestay so the aircond, rooms and doors are not a proper home concept. In the preview you can see an induction stove but I reality it's not available. The gas stove is in the upper floor which is not feasible idea. As I mention for an elderly its not a conducive environment. The beds are uneven and not comfortable to sleep. No cupboards to place bags, if big crowd the bags takes up quite a bit if the bedroom space. The bathroom door one is faulty, a few of us got stuck inside and hv twist ant turn the knob to get out. The bigger room door knob was faulty too. The bathroom showers are on the top with no hand shower also not so condusive to bathe, at the end the whole body from head to toe is wet. Not enough rugs, to replace the wet ones. The wash soap supplied are not specific for the use, the same liquid soap is to be used to wash hand and utensils. No bath shower soap supplied just some tiny soap bars No big pots and pans. The kitchen cupboards are dirty. Can't open the windows to keeps the place airy due to mosquito and monkeys. Can't use the pool cause of the monkeys. Saw 2 monkeys drinking water from the pool and urinating at the same place. Not a hygenic pool.
