I visited Sai Kumaran Curry House a few weeks ago during my stay at Port Dickson. I had tried several other Indian restaurants in the area, but felt that they were subpar.
After running out of options, I went to Sai Kumaran Curry House with a glimpse of hope to eat authentic indian food after some time. I was greeted by a signboard that said their specialty is sattisorru. I was intrigued as it isn’t very popular and very little people make it right. The crab was sold out when we reached but the prawn, mutton, chicken, veg etc was available. It comes with 2 bases I think, curry or kicap. I tried the curry prawn and the veg one, it was very flavourful and the rice was just nice, not too wet. Fresh pieces of prawn, curried rice in a claypot brought to you piping hot. What’s not to like? The other star of the night was the kambing soup, I don’t usually have kambing soup but after realising it is cooked á la minute, I pounced on the opportunity to try it. Best decision! It was not a thick soup but had all the authentic flavours and herbs included.
For the rainy weather, I will definitely crave for Sai Kumaran’s kambing soup. Must try! Do be prepared for 15-20 min wait as the dish is only prepared once you order.
For everyone seeking authentic indian food at Port Dickson, this is definitely the place to go. Satti sorru is available evening onwards only although it looks like they cook really good dishes for lunch on the counter.
Also p.s tourist note: It’s harder to get indian food in the evening than in the afternoon. I went to a few restaurants after 3pm and not much items except goreng, Sai Kumaran was an exception. This is for anyone planning their trip to...
Read moreI bought one thosai with two types of chutney and sambar (dhal) to go with thosai, one pack of vegetarian bihun and one pack of hot Milo 'O'.
Thosai was sour, and dry. Both the coconut and mint chutney was watery and less delicious. Sambar was on the same page with chutney.
Vegetarian bihun was plain and had literally a few cabbage and couple of carrot strips in it.
Guys, come on. What's the wrong with you all. Why can't you provide good quality food? People pay for this quality. I meant, there is so much improvements to be done. Please improve.
However, the service...
Read moreFound this shop at 8.30pm night where most Indian eateries were closed for business. Vegetarian meals were delicious. Had tiffin and their curry servings are delicious too. Special note to the claypot rice stall, friendly stall owner and their mock chicken curry is a bomb when paired with thosai or roti prata. Their fried food tasted pretty good too. Shop may be congested if there are many customers at a particular...
