Voyage Retreat is an excellent place for those looking for a locally curated experience and uniquely Pangkor hospitality. The caretaker/Manager of the property (Bernard) is an outstanding host, going an extra mile to serve the needs of our family of 14 with age from 5 to 70. He handles personally the booking, pre-check in and check out process.
Bernard personally brought our group to a guided tour (by himself) of a local fishermen’s dock where fishing boat unload their catch. The kids had a glimpse of fishermen’s way of life, touched all sorts of fish of different shapes and sizes. As a local, Bernard will recommend to you various eateries in Pangkor depending on your preference. Pangkor is easy to navigate and its seafood fresh so almost anything with seafood taste good.
Location of Voyage Retreat is strategic, with a lot of restaurants within 5min walk away. If you have a big group like ours, Voyage has a patio on the first floor for gathering chit chat. The area is comfortable with breeze. Sea view room offers a morning view hard to beat, with hornbills’ morning call to wake you up.
The beds are comfortable, room is clean with ample power points. Rooms are comfortable up to 3 pax, 2adults 2kids a bit tight. There are a few things to note. Voyage is a small property and dont expect a 5 star hotel level of facilities. Entrance to the property is a steep slope. If you have elderly, let Bernard know in advance, he will arrange assistance.
The room near and above the restaurant may be a bit noisy from evening onwards to around 11pm (during peak season). You can let the restaurant staff/bernard know if the kitchen noise is too loud and they try to minimise it.
Overall, I would say Voyage offers one of the best-in-class hospitality and local experience on par with other world class resorts. Decent facilities and cleanliness, is one of the better...
Read moreWe are glad that we chose Voyage Retreat for our 3D2N stay in Pangkor Island. The rooms are super clean and comfortable. Nice view facing the sea from our balcony. We like the bathrooms non-slip flooring. They have a common hall where you can rest and relax, chit chat with friends after a tired day of walked. Feels more lije a home away from home. Unlimited RO water refill also available. Location is good as you can find local eatery within 5 minutes walk from the retreat.

Read moreMany thanks to Mr Bernard for his hospitality. He had make us felt 1 night stay is definitely not enough. He has so much to offer and experience to share, especially about the local life style and his strong belief in his way of life towards the environment.
He is a great man with no personal agenda especially when it comes to where to purchase the local produce.
He is kind enough to bring us to witness the great job of the fishermen's life, which darn it, only the strong can do.
Despite homestay is not a star rated hotel, the bed, pillow, even the shampoo are at great quality of 5 star hotel. I have the privilege of staying at the room where i can just stick my head out and can see the sunrise. Everyday is a new beginning, and life must be treaasured.
