Mornington Hotel Waterfront — Hotel in Perak

We booked this hotel for 2 nights for a family trip. We were greeted by unhelpful and non smiling receptionist girl, good thing checking in process was smooth and quite fast. We asked about parking space for the hotel, she just said that we can only park in front of the hotel, it was full that time and did not bother to help to suggest where to park. Spacious room, good bed & fluffy pillows (Our room was with 1 queenbed & 2 single beds). Water heather & air conditioner is working well. They provide towels, mineral waters & basic toiletries along with safety box and refrigerator. However its quite inconvenient as there's only one rubbish bin for the room. Our room had a very strong durian smell from the refrigerator. The receptionist did not bother inform us that we need to inform them if we want our room to be cleaned the following day. The male receptionist was very helpful & friendly, he informed house keeping to change new towels for us upon our request. This hotel have swimming pool, but there is 'Pool under maintenance' sign (but still there were people swimming). Location is good, walking distance to the town, there are also nearby shops located opposite of this hotel. Its a good hotel for a short stay, you can hear sounds from other rooms around you as the wall are made up of something like woods. The price is just not worth with the service...

When you search about the facilities of this place, one thing comes up - soundproofing. They claim that their rooms are sound proof, and that was one of the main criteria I booked this place. Much to my disappointment, the room is far from sound proof. I can hear the cars and bikes passing by from the streets, and guests talking and singing from the next rooms. You can hear hair dryers turning on and off from other rooms, and people throwing up in their toilets. What is worse, their own staff have no regard for guests' comfort and decide that they would have their own karaoke/singing session in their Store Room, which was connected to my bedroom. Despite relentless efforts in asking them to keep it down, my efforts were ignored like as though they haven't heard a thing! Have to find a place to stay for 1 night, got a room for 2 here for rm128. Good location, within walking distance to downtown and waterfront park. if you have kids and they're getting bored in the room just bring them to the park, plenty of things to do and eat. The room I got is small but clean, the pillows are fluffy, the bedsheets and blankets are clean, the bathroom is clean and hotwater plentiful. However, the mark on the shower tap is white for hotwater and red for cold water so I found it out the hot way. Whoever thought of putting a translucent glass as a bathroom wall? When you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and turns on the light the whole room lights up much to the annoyance of your room mate. || There was a renovation going on so by 8 am things get a bit noisy.
