· DON'T go here, I promise you'll regret it, I'll give a in depth summary of the reasons why: the place is simply made to make a maximum amount of profit from tourists without providing any value for the guests other than "yeah it's a 'local feel'". Lacks any type of soul that a homestay would provide or any type of proper facilities that a hotel/guesthouse would provide. the facilities are falling apart: leaky roofs in the dinner and hallway area when it rains, bathroom: dirty, not even a proper showerhead could be spared, you're basically having a shower underneath a tap. Toilets not functioning properly. Room: extremely basic, like a plywood box. Cheapest finishings possible Owner: fake friendliness veil that gets discarded as soon as there is an issue, rather lazy than hosting a guest in a proper, professional manner Price advertised is not the actual price they will charge you. Apparently in the fine print they come up with a bunch of fees and percentages at the end. If you simply and respectfully ask to clarify the difference, you're simply told to leave the place or pay up. Hospitality 10/10..? Completely overpriced for what you get. Pay a tiny bit more and you can actually stay in a nice place around the island. Breakfast is very basic and served too late if you have a dive in the morning planned Dinner (pay extra) is very basic and plain, hardly edible, we got some rice with soy sauce and cabbage salad.. Owners make a lot of noise in the dinner area if you decide to go to bed early to dive in the morning Big generator right in front of the window, the whole night, bye bye tranquil island experience.. I can say more but in short review - its a DUMP, don't stay here ,...
Read moreYou'll never want to return home once you've experienced the beauty and hospitality of Spheredivers. I've seen many beautiful sunsets in my life but the sunsets from the viewing platform of Spheredivers is one of the best I've ever seen. For 8 days 7 nights and everyday is a different shades of sunset, but the best sunsets of my life. You can feel that the owner - Azhar, definitely has put all his heart and soul in carefully selecting this place and make it a home for himself and to many other travelers that want to experience the beauty of Mabul.
I took my open water diving course with Spherediver and never regretted my choice. The dive instructors - Ajim and Faris are very passionate about what they do for life, and also for the marine life. Not to forget the backbone of Spheredivers - Al the quiet boatman that brings you to places with beautiful marine life around Mabul; Shida, Aishah and Nona, they have the prettiest smile and prepare the best meals in Mabul. Also, they never fail to keep this place sparkling clean; Adik, Tiger and Ali - the three highly skilled, professional and dedicated security guards that will ensure (for as much as possible) Spheredivers is free from unwanted intruders.
They said home is wherever your heart is, and I think I have to return to Spheredivers to retrieve it. That's how much I...
Read moreBig big safety concerns!! If you do not dive its a nice place to stay and relax. Back to the safety issues: We had to turn back because of 2 completely malfunctioning bcd leaking that much air that you couldnt even stay afloat before we went down. After changing bcd we had an emergency in 25 m depth due to a mouthpiece which disconnected from the regulator resulting in an emergency exit. Then as we checked the regulators for future dive we struggled to find one which did not have a problem with keeping up the pressure while inhaling. This is a big no no!! We never felt more uncomfortable whith rental equipment in combined 250 dives. Apart from the safety issues the people running the hotel are really nice and the food was good. But definitely would not recommend if...
