We just had the loveliest honeymoon at Sun Siyam Olhuveli, staying 6D5N in their Grand Water Villa on a half-board meal plan in mid-Apr 2025. In addition to their complementary newlywed benefits, we also bought their Ultimate Honeymoon Package, which we think was a fantastic deal for the experience we got. *Airport Transfer* Airport transfer is via a 45min speedboat transport from Velana Airport. It seemed a bit pricey (USD $250/pax for return), but we liked that the boat schedule was much more frequent than that for seaplanes. *Resort* The resort is a large one, but it never felt crowded. It comprises 3 private islands connected by bridges (Olhuveli Island, Dream Island and TUI Blue for Adults Only) with a calm semi-lagoon in the middle, which was one of our fav places. The place is just like the pictures, and the water so blue it felt unreal! Waiting for the electric buggy shuttle to get around can seem a hassle at first, but you quickly get used to the relaxed pace of island life. *Staff* Our Island Host, Yousif took great care of us, was so efficient in organising our package inclusions, and very responsive on WhatsApp. He went out of his way to make us feel special, and even surprised us with a vacant beach pool villa for our floating breakfast! Our Restaurant Host, Shaista was a gem, even though she was on her last week of work. Every meal, she'd make a point to come over to check in, ask about our day and make recommendations, even though she wasn't in our section. On our last morning, she surprised us with a special table set-up, complete with flowers and napkin swans! It was also lovely to meet Sang, our waitress at the Thai restaurant Siyam Orchid. She was so attentive and gave great service, and we loved being seated al fresco on the restaurant deck overlooking the ocean sunset. Our housekeeping by Villa Attendant Eka was also so efficient and helpful. The room was kept spotless, and cleaned sometimes 2-3x a day, with fresh towels and refilled glass bottles of water left for us whenever we stepped in. *Villa* We stayed at the water Villa 505 on Dream Island, which we thought was the perfect location and worth every cent. There are full height wooden fences on both sides of the villa deck for privacy, and we loved being able to jump right into the ocean every morning. We'd also recommend a visit to Ocean Spa, where you can watch fish swim under you while getting a massage (but book early, as slots fill up quickly). *Biodiversity* The marine life was incredible, despite some bleached coral in the lagoons, and we saw lots of large fish, blacktip reef sharks, stingray and eagle rays just off our back deck. But the most memorable experience for us was definitely watching the huge manta rays that came to feed on the plankton at the Dive Centre jetty most nights (about 8.30pm onwards)! If you're not on an All Inclusive Plan, you have to rent snorkelling equipment from the Dive Centre. Gear is also not included on the resort's snorkelling expeditions. Rental for snorkel + fins + mask package is USD $7/hr, $13/half day (3-6hr), $17/full day (24hr). So you can consider bringing your own equipment! *Food* Our buffet breakfasts and dinners on Dream Island were at Malafaaiy Restaurant. It had a wide selection of international food and was more than enough to last us for the whole day, though food was sometimes laid out in a confusing manner (e.g. eggs benedict next to curry). They also had an Adults Only seating section for us couples, which we appreciated! However, the staff at the Adults section seemed to treat Caucasian guests very differently from us Asians, which didn't feel great. Overall, we still had an amazing time at Olhuveli, and can definitely recommend it.

REVISED Review with addl updates Planned this trip with our family, for our anniversary. Right from the start the staff is not that helpful and some of them are very rude, they seem overwhelmed when you ask them questions. Except few of them who are friendly, the other are just doing the bare minimum. Firstly it’s a big island and a lot thing to do. They should do a better job at explaining that at the checkin. they assigned a host to us who in turn started getting upset and raised her voice when we asked questions. Furthermore. When her supervisor intervened it seems that the first thing she asked it why you upset with my colleague and rather than assessing the situation. She made it right for us eventually, but we didn’t expect this at the start of the trip. Now amenities, haven’t explored them yet. Food, is a challenge, we had to split up and some of our family had to eat in the restaurant since the food at the buffet inspite of the wide spread wasn’t exciting. The restaurant manager met us and assured to accommodate for us. One last thing They have so many forms they make you feel during checkin and also for activities. It’s annoying. I think the staff should take care of your checkin reservations atleast. When you tired from the travel you need to make the checkin atleast comfortable. Further update, after stay - while the trip, I was going to change and put 1 star, instead i decided to leave it 3, because of a unbelievable hospitality of the sunset restaurant manager Chamil, chef Nisar and his team. Also the team from island pizza restaurant pradeep and Sunil was very accommodating. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. If anything, this resort is working because of a few of these amazin people. Also the staff from the water sport team was very accommodating too. Having said that, there are some additional instances which occurred. We had host Nikki, we only saw her the first day and then she never showed her face instead, kept checking in on WhatsApp doing the bare minimum without any action. There was no iron in our room, when asked for one they gave us an iron which was dirty and ruined my expensive shirt which I had to wear on the new years evening party. The shirt was ruined and they kept saying the manager wanted to talk to me, he never showed up. Or even attempted to pay the cost of the shirt. Attached is a picture of the disaster. Further, we had a room switch and that day it was raining, we get a call from the reception about the checking out. We requested them to send a club car to be picked up, instead they said just catch the bus. That was the worst example ever for hospitality. Honestly there a mainly instances, which occurred during our trip which really made us upset, in the end we just gave in and said forget it because time and again we had to face disappointment. One thing I noticed they had a different behavior towards the people of the west, whereas people from their nearest neighbor country were treated very differently. This resort is no ways a 4 star resort, it’s barely a 3 star. So please don’t expect any wonders here, you get the bare minimum of what you paid for. The only thing which is keeping this resort slightly worth the visit are because of some of the team members which I mentioned above who try to understand your plight. Good luck and make your decision wisely.

🌴 Our Last-Minute Maldives Adventure 🌊 We recently went on a 30-day family trip that was completely unplanned no itinerary, just booking flights and hotels as we went. One of the best surprises? The Maldives. ✈️ When we landed, the first thing we saw from the plane were the scattered islands surrounded by crystal-clear turquoise water. The airport itself is small, but the excitement builds the moment you step off. After going through passport checks and lodging forms (which we hadn’t planned since we booked so last-minute 😅), we were surrounded by check-in counters for different island resorts. Each island requires either a speedboat or seaplane transfer depending on the distance. This is at a cost per person. Since we were traveling with our daughters, we wanted a kid-friendly spot with fun water activities, pools, and of course a water villa that walks right into the ocean. We ended up at Sun Siyam Resorts, which has three connected islands (one even adults-only). Our island was just a 30–40 minute speedboat ride away, and the welcome was unforgettable staff greeted us with big smiles as we walked along the white sand beaches with the bluest water I’ve ever seen. We had no plan for how long we’d stay, but we kept extending and stayed seven nights in a water villa. Best decision ever! The villa had a jacuzzi on the balcony overlooking the ocean, a bathtub with open windows to the sea, and the most breathtaking sunsets. We had a day we were able to go see by boat the local village culture, history, and local lifestyle. Our last day we did a sunset boat ride and dolphin watching which was ABSOLUTELY the COOLEST ever seeing groups of dolphins swimming, splashing in and out of the water!! 🌺 Highlights of our stay: • All-inclusive package with meals, drinks, and water sports. • Island hopping by golf cart between the three Sun Siyam islands. • Pools everywhere (including infinity pools) plus white sandy beaches. • Kids club with activities, water sports, and games for my daughters. • Couples massage for us, mini spa day for the girls (facials, pedis, manis 💕). • Amazing staff who made my birthday unforgettable with room decorations, cake, champagne, and even a restaurant table decorated with colored rice spelling “Happy Birthday.” Every meal felt special, whether it was at the buffet or one of the reservation-only restaurants. Service was next level we were waited on hand and foot. Between the sunsets, snorkeling with fish, water sports, spa days, and endless swimming, it was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. The girls were heartbroken when it was time to leave and still talk about going back. Honestly, I give this trip 10/10 stars for service, quality, and atmosphere. If you’re looking for an unforgettable family-friendly island escape (or even a romantic one if it’s just adults), they gave us a great send off back on the boat and all waving at us! The Maldives is a must. 🌊✨

This was our fourth visit to Sun Siyam Olhuveli and it won't be our last. We love this spectacular island resort. The management and staff are all helpful and friendly, and soon make you feel like you're at home here. ||We were very happy to see some staff members who we met on previous trips, who we now consider to be good friends, including Rohit, Mohamed, Suraj, Emran, Chamil and Rohitha in the Sunset Restaurant. ||On arrival at Olhuveli we were greeted by drum beats and flower garlands, and as returning guests we were able to fast track check-in and go straight to our rooms after a welcome drink and cooling towel. Manager Ksenia came to welcome us in person.||Our room was beautiful and the wonderful housekeeper Appu kept our room exceptionally clean and tidy throughout our stay. As well as keeping the room absolutely spotless, Appu was also kind and considerate and would take care to clean our room while we were out on our morning snorkel so there was never any inconvenience to us. She works very hard to make guests' rooms perfect and even arranged beautiful flower patterns on the bed and fabulous origami animals, made from folded towels, which we loved. ||Our dedicated island host Naufal was in touch with us prior to arrival on Olhuveli to explain how to check in in advance to save time on arrival, and how to use the Olhuveli app. He was a pleasure to liase with and answered every query we had quickly and helpfully. Naufal met us on arrival and guided us through our stay, kindly booking us in for a floating breakfast experience as well as meals at Namaste and Siyam Orchid, the island's incredible Indian and Thai restaurants. Naufal arranged extra coat hangers for our room and explained the yoga classes available as well as the free excursion we were eligible for as repeat visitors (we chose the sunset dolphin boat safari from a list of wonderful options). Naufal checked on us daily to make sure everything was perfect and we had everything we needed to fully enjoy our stay. We are very grateful to him. ||Having been to Olhuveli 4 times we were invited to join a Repeaters' Cruise, a lovely sunset boat trip hosted by management to treat those who have visited multiple times. We felt very well looked after by Rediana and it was a joy to meet other members of the Olhuveli family.||The team at the Sunset Restaurant, where we ate three meals most days, are a complete delight. From the warm and smiley greeter Rashmi to managers Chamil and Rohitha, the waiting team of Rohit, Mohammed and Arit and the fresh fruit server (master!) Emran, everyone is friendly, welcoming, professional, knowledgable and fun. We thoroughly enjoyed every meal thanks to the brilliant team at the restaurant who take care to make every meal feel special. Rohit and Chamil in particular go above and beyond to cater to the guests' every need. We met them first in 2022 and hope they will be working at Olhuveli on our next visits too! They truly made our holiday special. ||I'm vegetarian and the team introduced me to the senior managers at the restaurant who kindly pointed out all the plant-based food options for me and asked if there was anything else I would like them to provide. The food is varied, excellent and plentiful so I had no additions to suggest. ||We had two visits to The Spa on Olhuveli and Nova and Titi were fabulous therapists, better than any others we have encountered at home or on other trips. Their tension relief and kati vasti massages were sublime, easing areas of muscle tension and thoroughly relaxing us. We finished our treatments with a beautiful flower bath with a pot of ginger and lemon tea which was divine. The experience was so good we went back for a second visit to the spa a few days later to repeat everything exactly the same way again. ||Our meal at Namaste, by chef Nirmal, was truly exquisite. We are big fans of Indian food and have tried a lot, including in several locations in India, but Nirmal's food was the best we've ever tasted. The paneer tikka masala with Kasmiri pulao rice was unbelievably good and the jamim khaas dessert was light as air. Phenomenal food in a beautiful atmosphere with excellent waiting staff and we had a fantastic host, Hoodh. Dinner was so good that we returned for a delicious thali lunch another day. ||Our meal at Siyam Orchid (Thai), by chef Ayaz, was equally magnificent - I had vegetarian crackers with sauces, vegetable spring rolls, vegetable rhad naa mee krob (friend noodles with a mountain of delicious vegetables). The showstopping desserts rounded off a fabulous meal in spectacular style. We had the kluai khaek (banana) and I had the ma mueng (manago) and I won't give away the surprise but suffice to say the presentation of both was tremendous. Our waiter Akash was very attentive and kind and prepared a free non-alcoholic cocktail for me to try. He made us feel incredibly well looked after.||Most days we visited the Dhoni Bar to watch the sun set with sundowners and Ariska was always there to help us with our drinks. We are grateful to her for making the end of each day feel special. ||Baloo, Bob, Dana and the team at the watersports centre were exceptionally helpful in booking and hosting our excursions. The 3 point snorkel to see the coral garden, turtles and nurse sharks is so good we've done it 3 times! Swimming with the nurse sharks is one of the most incredible things we've ever done. The coral garden is breathtaking and we saw two or three turtles on every trip. ||Snorkelling on the house reef is excellent too (we only did the snorkel excursions for variety not necessity). We saw white tip sharks, black tip sharks, nurse sharks, turtles, sting rays, eagle rays, octopus and countless fish right there on the house reef! |Each day we walked from Olhuveli across Dream Island to Olhuveli Romance and we visited Thea's Coffee Shop, The Bar and Romance Bar before returning back to 'our' island and all the staff at each venue were friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. I don't drink alcohol so they prepared wonderful mocktails for me. There was so much choice, I never got bored of the drinks during our 14 night stay (sometimes non-alcoholic choices can be limited but not on Olhuveli).||I feel like I could go on and on about how fabulous Sun Siyam Olhuveli is. There are numerous other team members who made our stay special, just too many to name everyone individually. Everyone we met was friendly, enthusiastic and eager to make sure our holiday was perfect, and it was.|We will certainly be back to Sun Siyam Olhuveli in the next couple of years. It is a magical place where you can switch off, forget work and connect with nature and the environment in beautiful surroundings, whilst feeling well-fed, pampered and well-cared for (and without being over-fussed which is important to us). The atmosphere is happy and relaxed but the service is...

Unforgettable Stay at Sun Siyam-Olhuveli Resort!

My husband and I stayed at the Sun Syiam -Olhuveli Resort in the Maldives for my recent birthday celebration from February 19th-25th. It was absolutely incredible! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcomed and taken care of. Our overwater grand villa was beautiful, offering the perfect mix of luxury and relaxation. It was so peaceful and relaxing to see sea life right from our patio and hear the ocean waves at any time of day!

We received a personal resort guide upon our arrival. Yousif was beyond helpful and kind, ensuring that everything went smoothly throughout our stay. He went the extra mile to make sure that we scheduled our excursions, massages and restaurant reservations at the best times. He answered all of our questions and made sure we were well taken care of! Kudos to Yousif!

We enjoyed the many activities! I would like to send a special kudos to Kenza, who led the Afro dance and water aerobics class—her energy was infectious, and it was such a fun and memorable experience! I would definitely recommend attending her classes! I learned so much while staying active. She made us feel welcomed and made my birthday even more special! She is truly a gem and the resort is lucky to have her!

One of the absolute highlights was our scuba diving experience with our guide, Token. He was an exceptional instructor—so patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging that we ended up doing a second dive! It truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and his guidance made it all the more special. He was very attentive and also did an amazing job with capturing those special moments while we enjoyed the breathtaking sea life! I would definitely recommend the scuba diving experience! 10/10!

The 3-point snorkeling tour was great! Swimming with the nursing sharks was incredible. The Sunset dolphin tour was nice. We didn't get to see any dolphins this day, but the boat and sunset were beautiful. We took a tour to the local island and it was subpar. Not too much to be excited about but a nice place to buy decent souvenirs. We enjoyed the Barefoot BBQ dinner by the beach. It was very romantic!

We also indulged in a wonderful massage with Ndiya and another amazing therapist at the spa on the main island. The entire spa team was incredibly kind and welcoming, making the experience even more relaxing. We had a couples massage and they added the special touch of birthday decor which made me feel even more special!

Another personal touch that stood out was meeting the management team during one of the cocktail hours. It was great to see their involvement and care for guests. We actually won some great gifts and we were so glad that we took the time to attend!

And of course, the restaurant staff was fantastic! The food was always fresh and there were plenty of options and varities! A special thank you to Babul, who provided exceptional service and helped make our dining experiences even more enjoyable.

Last but not least, I would like to send a special kudos to our room service staff who kept our room/bathroom tidy and made sure to restock our refreshments daily. They also went above and beyond to make special decorations for our bed and provided a birthday cake/wine for my birthday!

The only recommendation for improvement that I would provide is updating the check-out process. We were told that we would receive a letter with the check-out information and process the night before our departure, however we never received any information and had to reach out to the front desk and our guide for further information. We didn't know about the pick-up process, luggage pick-up and breakfast since it was so early (5am). It would have been helpful to have this information earlier to prevent any confusion and reduce the worries of missing our flight.

All in all, I would absolutely return to Sun Siyam-Olhuveli Resort—it was truly a dream vacation, made even better by the amazing staff. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an unforgettable getaway in...

Having just completed 14 nights on Olhuveli, I am in a state of pure bliss and relaxation. For me, Olhuveli is an escape from reality, a paradise island a million miles from the real world, work, stress, responsibility etc. The beautiful, clear turquoise waters lap gently onto pristine white sands, which lead to beautiful palms and tropical plant life (kept immaculate by the hardworking garden staff), and our beach villa is nestled amongst the foliage just 20 metres from the sea.||I love the nature here, each morning, waking to tropical bird song, I leave my comfortable room (kept fastidiously clean, thank you Appu), watch the tree lizards dart away as I carry my snorkel gear the few pacesk across the soft sand into the Ocean, then paddle out to the house coral reef for a relaxing snorkel before breakfast. Instantly I'm surrounded by a myriad of dazzling tropical fish, of every colour. Small reef sharks glide past, a stingray looks for food on the sandy bottom, I spend 5 minutes watching a turtle munch on the sea grass, it pops up for a breath of air right next to me, unphased by my presence. There's magic at every turn on Olhuveli.||After a quick shower it's time for breakfast in the smorgasbord of the buffet, with every conceivable option available. Will I have a freshly made omelette or dosa, or perhaps try the local Maldivian breakfast options?||The buffet greeters and staff very quickly become firm friends, so welcoming and friendly, taking huge pride in their work catering for your every whim. Sorry to anybody I miss, a big thank you to my friends Chamil, Rohit, Mohamed, Rohitha, Suraj, Arif and Rashmi and all the others I enjoy talking to whilst they provide excellent service.||After breakfast, perhaps an excursion, I recommend the three point snorkel to see beautiful coral gardens, turtles, and the most incredible Tawny Nurse Shark encounter you could imagine (you can't help but fall in love with these puppy dogs of the seas). The boat crew and snorkel guides giving you every assistance in and out of the boat each time, finding amazing ocean creatures to point out to you.||Then it's back home for lunch at the wonderful buffet again. Update my friends on the mornings snorkel adventures whilst enjoying the constantly changing food options with both international and local dishes. I want to try them all, I will need to burn off some off this excess when back home!||I walk off lunch with my wife, we walk the length of Olhuveli, over to Dream Island, and onwards to Romance Island. Stop for a drink or three at the idyllic Romance bar, before looping back home to Olhuveli through the dappled shade of the palms and tropical plants (it's like a botanical gardens). Then it's off to the Dhoni bar to splash around in the infinity pool, perhaps staying to watch the sun set, painting the sky pink, or maybe to steal away to The Spa for a mind melting, tension erasing massage (thank you Titi and Nova) in the most beautiful surroundings imaginable.||The for dinner, perhaps back to the buffet, or one of the Islands premium restaurants. We tried Namaste (Indian), and the Siyam Orchid (Thai) and both were divine, more than matching any top restaurant from London (where I live). Big thank you to Hoodh and Nurmal, Ayaz, and Akash for the excellent food and service. Plus to our amazing Island host, Naufal who has organised all of this for us, every step of the way. We are so spoiled!||Post dinner, a wander up to the pontoon by the dive centre, where night lights are played on the water, and a nightly performance is provided by the manta rays, elegantly gliding past your feet as they scoop up the plankton attracted to the lights.||Then it's off to our (enormous) bed to dream about the Olhuveli magic we'll experience tomorrow. Is there any wonder why we've visited Olhuveli four times now. I proposed to my wife on this jewel of an island in 2009, we returned to hold our wedding here in 2011, and have celebrated anniversaries here in 2022 and now 2024. We're already dreaming of our next trip... Very...
