We stayed there from 26th - 31st August. On arrival you will see a small check in counter with no one to greet you ( as far as i remember) after 10 minutes someone arrived with the welcome drink. We were four of us and they told us that one of the room is ready and the other room is going to take time the lady at the reception informed us its going to take almost 2 hours for the room to clean.Imagine after taking a 7 hour flight you get to hear this. There was some goof up done from our travel agent regarding the upgrade and all but this was not the words i was expecting to hear from the hotel staff. Our friend's room were ready so we went there to sit and to order some room service. Our friend picked up the room service menu , opened it and screamed there is a baby lizard we girls screamed and cried. Wow ! can you imagine the scene four people tired waiting for the room, hungry and they are welcomed by a lizard? I understand its a coastal area and all kind of insects are common but there is a thing called " HOUSEKEEPING" and being from the hotel background i know how the supervisor makes sure to check all the rooms before the arrival of the guests. Anyway at 4 they told us our room would be ready and when nobody called us regarding it my husband went to the reception and asked about the situition. The staff was not at all courteous and dint give a damn about it the girl was on the phone saying she is checking with her staff. Meanwhile somone came us and handed over the keys to him while the girls was still on phone checking. ( sigh)
One of the hotel guy accompanied us for the room tour. Meanwhile he informed us that the male guest are required to follow a dress code during the dinner and no shorts , slippers are allowed in the restaurant during dinner. This enraged my husband and he said we are on holiays all i am carrying are shorts and no jeans and in the coastal area you are telling about not wearing shorts and slippers is this some kind of joke? Well, it was getting out of hands now.. After setting i went for shower and to my surprise there were no toiletaries there were just the bottles or whatever it is called dispensers filled with soap and water. Conditioner with water and shampoor was all water. LOL :D I have been to many places and i have never seen something like that. Mind you we payed good amount for our stay and always prefer to stay in a good property. Oh and yes while taking shower the drainage clogged. And we have to call someone to clear it up. At this point we thought we need to change the hotel as we cant stay here for 5 days. After lot of screaming and heated argument by my husband the General Manager visited us in our room and apologised for this kind of behaviour. He was very courteous and sincerely apologized for the service. He along with the Duty Manager promised us to make our stay comfortable and after that we were taken care off well. And the chef made really amazing food every night and i must tell you this changed the whole experience. Our dinners were the one we looked forward to each day of our stay. Sometimes things can take a round turn and not in our hands but whatever it was we liked the hospitality and food. Thank you to the...
Read moreThere are hundreds of hotels to choose from that orrery much seem to have comparable amenities. For me, I was looking for a place where I could totally unplug and be nurtured to rest, reflect, reset and recharge for me new job opportunity.
This place was a sanctuary for me. Omg. I stayed March 2023. I travelled for 2 days to get here from the untied states and it felt like an absolute oasis when I arrived. Instead of standing at a crowded desk with other travelers, their amazing staff escorted me to a lounge area looking over the property where I was given a welcome drink that was absolutely scrumptious. That intro began the trend of how I would feel for the rest of the trip.
The employees made all the difference for me. Anand (front office director), Haand (Front Desk Manager), Vanessa (Spa and Wellness Director), Chef Rakesh.. all made me feel like a VIP for my entire 7 stay stay.
It is about an hour from the airport to the resort. Melanie(tour rep) at the resort organized that transfer for me and it was seamless. She also arranged 2 day trips which she recommended based on my preferences.
Not let’s talk about the Spa! My suite was located “in” the wellness area itself. Which means it was tucked away from the hustle and bustle, was extremely spacious and had its own outside courtyard where I could journal, rest and reflect. The housekeeping team did a phenomenal job of daily bottled water drop off service, meals, and turn down service -including a luxurious scented bath on my last night ( see pics)
Vanessa (Spa and Wellness Director) is an incredible hidden gift. She is a healer that applies Chakra healing and meditations. I have never done this intensive 1:1 body of work before and it was a welcomed gift to the wellness package I selected of nutrition detox (which Chef Rakesh designed just for me)exercise, massages, body scrubs, hydro therapies and meditations. Lovene is the spa therapist that did all of my body treatments. Omg. She is another Angel. I asked her to marry me by the end of the trip but she was already married. She was just the sweetest and caring kind would who knew just the right amount of pressure to apply and cater for my needs. If you go ask for the Pushta, Abhyanga treatments. They design new stuff all the time they said and I have NEVER had a body scrub, hot oil and massage treatment like this. It truly took me to another world. My friends said I had a glow!!!
I could write a book about this place. But seriously the spa was the icing on the cake for me. The service was extremely top notch. The amenities and space in the suite were luxurious and the food options and quality were high bar for me.
The pool, grounds and recreation areas are extremely well maintained. The beach is not the greatest. Although it has white sand, It is more a bay than a beach. Still great for lounging and a swim for the adventurous who don’t mind a bit of seaweed though
I’ve travelled internationally extensively and this will always be a special place for me. The people, the VIP service, value for the money and the connections will be something I deeply loved and look forward to...
Read moreNot as good as I expected. Although I had requested a higher floor we got a ground floor room which was adequate. There is a great big bath but no bubbles supplied although you might be able to use the shower gel and see if this foams up otherwise bring your own bath bubbles. The floors creak a lot so if you have to get up in the middle of the night you will disturb your partner. The beds are very comfortable. Wi-fi is glitchy.||Water is supplied free of charge in the room yet when you have it in the restaurant you have to pay for it. The international menu is the same every night although we were lucky enough to have a buffet one night. There is an Asian menu which you can order from some nights a week. Some of the dishes have surcharges so factor that in if you are on full or half board. The beach restaurant was closed due to the weather and staff shortages. Drinks are very expensive. Vaping appears to be accepted in the restaurants. We were celebrating a big anniversary which I mentioned to the hotel before our arrival but it was not recognised until towards the end of our holiday as apparently it had been overlooked. ||The hotel is small which we liked as staff seemed to remember you. The beach is also small but always found a sunbed so that was a plus. This is quite a remote hotel so not many places to walk to so do take some excursions. We took a trip to the north of the island and found Cap Malheurex to have a better vibe than the west coast. We used Melanie at reception who was bubbly and enthusiastic and helped us find trips that suited us and organised the taxi driver/guide for us. We were going to use the company Summertimes but found them to be nearly double the price.||Some of the staff in the reception and dining room are in training and doing internships so do bear that in mind as they all have to learn. In the restaurant Priyanka who is an intern always had a smile and remembers what you require when you have breakfast. Kiran who has been at the hotel for some time and can be found at reception is exceptionally helpful and kind.||There was what appeared to be a stray dog around and we had the misfortune of encountering a large lump of excrement on our way to breakfast. Also as the restaurant is quite open, you have a lot of birds flying around which cannot be helped. They may make a mess on your table and certainly have a go at pecking at the food.||Although this review might be picky some of the issues may exist in other Mauritian hotels anyway. At the end of the day if you just want to do absolutely nothing and just chill out and don’t mind paying some of the prices this...
