Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband. The accomodation is close to the citadelle and has nice views of the race course. It is about a 45 min walk to the waterfront. There were several aspects we were not entirely happy with regarding our stay (we have written to the owners for comment before leaving this review but had no acknowledgement or reply):||||- Wi-Fi - it states on thr website that there is free WiFi throughout, however we had no connection in our room or any communal areas except the top floor. We feel the description on the website is therefore inaccurate||||- only one toilet roll left for 2 adults for 2 nights- during the last night we had to ration this and then ran out. Fortunately we travelled with tissues so wasn't a problem but would suggest leaving more for guests so this isn't an issue ||||- privacy in bathroom - very thin veil material to cover windows into courtyard that didn't cover all windows. We felt like we would have had no privacy in the bathroom had any other guests been using the courtyard||||- our bedroom had a glass panel section in the wall. This was frosted so you couldn't see in but it did let in a lot of light. This meant as other guests came in through the door and switched the light on it flooded our room with light. They then did not switch the light off before leaving so we found ourselves having to get out of bed (on more than one occasion) and our room to turn this off.||||- the cockrel directly outside our room. Assuming out of the owners control but annoying nonetheless. This woke us up at 4.30am both mornings with its loud and continual noise.||||-hot water- there was only enough hot water for one shower at a time and being a couple the second shower was cold.||||- the locking system - using a padlock to lock the main door either on the outside or inside depending on whether you are returning or leaving works fine if you are the only guest. However, if there are other guests, when returning, the door was locked with the padlock on the inside. Reaching through to open the door was quite tricky and if we had dropped the keys we would have been locked out. Also if someone had left and locked us in with the padlock on the outside it would have made it very difficult to leave the building quickly should an emergency situation arise. ||||- the pool wasn't working/useable. This was one the reasons we booked so was disappointing ||||- it is advertised on the website and booking.com that there is a 24 hour reception. I feel this is misleading as there wasn't someone at reception 24 hours, there was just a phone number to call.||||- cleanliness of room, bathroom, communal areas could be improved ||||Overall, our stay at Manoir de Citadelle was ok but much lower than our expectations and we feel several aspects of the advertising...
Read moreWe are a couple of French, we stayed 4 nights at this hotel for business. First the hotel is hard to find, it's situated in a little street and it's not very well indicated. The hotel is simple but has potential. However, the pool were not functional and the spa were not working. That was a pity because we booked this hotel for these facilities. The hotel is really too far away from downtown by walk. It's better to have a car or call a taxi. Our room was not very clean, a lot of dust, the toilet was not totally cleaned, and some of the windows had curtains but on the outside. That was weird. The bed however was perfect to get some rest, we really appreciated that. The decoration is old fashioned but it's not the point for us. The staff proposed to make some special meals for breakfast but they didn't make them without explaining why. The reception has actually nobody 24h as written on the description, but you can contact the staff by phone, but the staff doesn't answer every time. So for all these reasons we can't recommand this hotel, the price is too expensive for the facilities offered (non offered actually), the description about the hotel is not totally honest (access to the pool, reception 24h, etc). Hope all these points will be improved for the future. The staff are actually nice and can be very helpful and available, but the organization has to be improved (cleaning, rooms intimacy, reception, access to the pool, access to outside garden and spa facilities, respect meal proposed for breakfast...
Read moreOne of my strangest hotel experience. Upon arrival we were given a different room than what we booked. The bathroom had glass walls and you could see people showing from outside. The man who received us did not understand as 2 women we want to shower without being visible to the outside. Had to argue way too long to get the room we booked. The lady who managed the place told us that we can have what we booked, but she is also staying in that area. We couldn't believe it. The pictures of the room we booked was a larger space with an open bathroom and a little cube in which the manager slept. Right next to the open bathtub etc. We also didn't have a key to lock any doors. So yes, first we had to argue that we don't want to be naked where people could see us, and then we had to share a room with the night manager after having to argue with her for almost an hour that we want the room we booked. She didn't consider moving to any of the empty rooms BTW and made it clear that the only condition for us getting the room we booked is sharing...
