I’ve been in this hotel for 2 weeks and here’s my honest review
Welcoming (just if you wonder): When staff welcomed us they were so nice but the thing is they hit the drum and it was loud, Like I wouldn’t say it was too loud but man, I was in the reception once and it’s literally jumpscared me so badly
Things to do: There is so much to do and maybe im missing some stuff but like i mean you wont get bored
Restaurants: yum yum…, uhh I went maybe to all of them and they were so good and here are some reviews for those restaurants Steakhouse: The steaks… amazing… Japan Restaurant (or sushi restaurant whatever you call it): It has almost every single Japan thing that you can try, also amazing! Hotel Restaurant: Breakfast and dinner they serve you AMAZING THINGS, they serve pancakes, crem (thin pancakes), pizza, sushi, eggs, vegetables. The only thing that I don’t like about the hotel restaurant that it’s literally so annoying when in the breakfast you can take so much drinks and then in the dinner there are limited drinks and you have to order them, not take them
PS5 room (near gym): how are you going to explain that it’s 13+, you are not allowing LITTLE CHILDREN TO JUST PLAY ON PS5?!
Gym: how much activities you can do there? what I can say A LOT
Gym 2 (family gym): It’s like the second gym for everybody cause I think the main one is 13+, But anyways you can still do activities there, What I don’t like that everything is so heavy for children that wanna lift dumbbells, but yeah it’s just like if they are kicking you out of the first gym, So if your kid is 8 ummm don’t try to go to the main one
Gym 3: don’t know the age limit but it’s just climbing and free place to do your activities
Tennis: THIS IS AMAZING! They give you rocket, balls, EVERYTHING!, well the only thing that I don’t like is that, that there are only 3 courts and one for paddle tennis, I know there is not enough space, but for extra court is enough space
Spa: Let’s not say that THIS SPA DOESENT HAVE LOCKS!, imagine you’re just changing, and then somebody opens the door while you’re changing cause they think there’s nobody inside, but it’s good, it has showers and sauna, amazing!
Beach: like you can swim there, the only thing that I don’t like, when im walking to the swing I see so much algae it and sea stuff, if it’s not your beach it’s fine but if it’s yours please clean it!
Pool: Pool is just good it’s like ok like in the other hotels!
WiFi: When I’m in the beach it just keeps disconnecting sometimes but in the room its fine working, Also sometimes its just randomly shut downs, Like can you try to do that more less times? Imagine if you’re in a call and then it just disconnects you
Staff: Staff is very nice and very welcome to you! The only thing that they do sometimes is they introduce theirselves for 10 seconds and then they ask you “How can I...
Read moreWe recently stayed 5 nights at the One & Only Le Saint Géran in Mauritius as a family of three (two adults and a toddler) in February, and overall it was a luxurious and memorable experience. Having stayed at several One & Only resorts before, we chose this one hoping for a seamless tropical family vacation—and for the most part, it delivered.
The setting is stunning, and what keeps us coming back to One & Only properties are the thoughtful, signature touches: cool refreshments on arrival, chocolate bon bons and a handwritten welcome note, a stunning floral display in the lobby, and small surprises like vanilla tea and peppercorn gifts awaiting you in your room. These details are what elevate the experience from great to special.
The staff strives to offer top-tier hospitality, and it shows. There’s plenty for families with young children—safe grounds for exploring, ducks, koi ponds, paddle boats, and even a kids' club and babysitting services. Our toddler loved the boat outings and family pool area, and the fact that kids eat free was a huge bonus. Unfortunately, the kids' water play area was out of order during our stay. Since it's still visible from the pool area, this led to some disappointed little ones.
Dining was exceptional. The breakfast buffet, on-site restaurants, and even room service were all consistently excellent, making this one of the best culinary experiences we’ve had in Mauritius. However, the Guerlain Spa was far beyond my budget, with entry-level treatments starting around $500, which felt out of reach for many guests.
We did face a significant issue with the air conditioning in our room upon arrival during peak summer heat. It took several frustrating hours into the night to resolve. While the hotel later offered a lodging discount as a gesture of goodwill—which we appreciated—it’s an issue we would have preferred to avoid altogether.
Another unexpected disappointment was the situation around the family pool. Guests were leaving personal belongings, including dirty diapers, on sun loungers to unofficially “reserve” them for the day. Staff were unwilling to intervene, which led to a rather awkward and uncharacteristically low-class situation for a resort of this caliber. Alternatively, you can avoid this situation altogether by renting a private cabana. It was still a surprising oversight from a brand known for setting high standards in hospitality.
One & Only Le Saint Géran remains a strong choice for families seeking a luxurious, low-planning getaway with plenty of built-in comfort and entertainment. It’s a premium experience with a premium price tag, but if you’re looking for high return on relaxation with minimal effort, this is a very...
Read moreWe just spent a week at Le Saint Geran and it was one of the best holidays we’ve ever had as a family of four. The hotel was recently renovated in October 2024 and one of the highlights from the reno is the Guerlain spa - there’s an adult only pool that you can access (even if you haven’t booked any treatments) and the place is a calm and serene oasis with a wide array of treatments on offer. Aside from the spa, the resort is gorgeous and our rooms had the most beautiful view of the beach and you could hear the waves at night lulling you to sleep. The rooms are very spacious (we had two connecting rooms) and each had a little terrace area. This hotel, while upscale, is super family friendly - they treated our kids like royalty! There’s a kids club that accepts drop offs from age 3 (most other hotels are from age 4) and they keep the kids super engaged and entertained with a ton of activities from pool, tennis, cooking class and arts and crafts. You can leave them for as little or as long as you want and they can even have lunch and dinner there. Kids under 5 eat free at the resort and they also offer free laundry during your stay for kids - a complete lifesaver! The food in the resort was amazing - La Terrase is where they serve the buffet breakfast (and it’s such a spread - you’ll have a hard time choosing what to eat) and they also have dinner buffet as well, which was great for us as the kids could choose what they wanted to eat. The buffet dinner has a theme each night of the week so you get to taste different cuisines throughout your stay. We also tried their Japanese fusion restaurant Tapasake as well as their pop-up Greek restaurant Hellene - dinner at the Greek was maybe one of my favorite meals of our stay. The service everywhere at the hotel was top-notch and all the staff there were super friendly. We spent New Year’s Eve at the resort and they go all out - starting with a champagne cocktail, followed by a gala dinner at La Terrase where the buffet offerings include lobster and wagyu beef. They had set up a whole dance floor at the beach and at midnight you had front row views to some amazing fireworks. All in all, an unforgettable experience. I can’t wait for...
