Les Dunes 2 was our house for 2 weeks july'18. It appeared to be a paradise. The villa is way more beautiful than expected. It appeared to be a lot more spatious too. One bedroom on the ocean side on the 1st floor is as big as the living+dining room. Waking up in this room is gorgious. We opened the screens, curtains and the windows completely and enjoyed the Sunrise climbing above the ocean horizon multiple times. The other two very spacious bedrooms with individual very large high standard bathrooms are located at the back side of the house, connected via the central hall. The maids were here every day, cleaning and cooking. We first had to get used to these services; it was the first time. They were very friendly and helpfull and cooked everything we wanted to. Snorkling is great, only 3 feet in the water you already swim in between 1000's colorfull fish, all directly coming from the Nemo movie. Be aware of the sea urchins. Just drift above them and enjoy the spectacular view. We had two cancelled flights, but Sophie was a great help, helping us to rearrange the villa, the transportation to/from the airport, et cetera. We used the rental car company which was proposed by Bernard. We hired two cars which were brought to, and collected from the villa. First class service from start to finish. Villa Lima was high quality, spacious, in a primo spot. Well equipped also for indoor/outdoor living . In house daily maid , literally part of the property . A lovely lady and great chef too . Property and most of garden in wind shadow from prevailing SE winds. Sit out all day . Only the coconut palms to tell you it’s windy. 13-16 knots most days , not unpleasant anyway , even out on the lagoon . Shallow lagoon at bottom of garden steps small beach for launching kayaks (supplied!). 500 meters beach walk to Poste Lafayette Beach. On Windguru as kite spot . 13 -25 knots every day . Shallow launch zone , 2km of deep lagoon available. Soft reef swell for ramp jumps , and chunkier reef break out back. Top Spot . Kite school with hire gear there most days from 10am. Decent kit . I hired a Duo Jaime 133 , but kept losing it coz Matt black. Washed up on beach within 20 mins each time . Swapped for eleveight 136 process , so much fun on the swell. Family loved the house and Bernard and Sophie organised a car hire for us , which was seamless , cheap and uncannily helpful. No Insurance wrangles , just meet n greet , quick check around and sign for keys . Best family...

Finding a great place for a staycation is not as easy as it sounds in a country like Mauritius where most rentals tend to focus on renting out to tourists - for many reasons. I then stumbled upon Book Mauritius Villas and contacted the number advertised. Bernard promptly picked up and transformed my experience straight away. With grace and good humour, he asked a few pointed questions (he knows his business) and lost no time in steering us in the absolute right direction! We ended up spending a magical week in Roches Noires, the perfect holiday getaway.
