Tapasake — Restaurant in Isle Mauritius

This was the first restaurant we visited on our vacation and we were in awe of the simplicity and the beauty of this place. The entranceway is gorgeous that leads to an even more beautifully set-up restaurant just beside the lake. We visited this restaurant twice during our stay because it was simple that good and the staff were simply that amazing. Both times Umah was our server and she remembered our likings and what we preferred. She kept conversations humorous and light hearted and became good friends with the wife, while offering her favorites and recommendations not only of the restaurant but of the country as well which was helpful. The food looked so beautiful with simple garnish that added texture. We loved all of the sushi we had ordered both times. To us the stand out dish had to be the Seabass. The sauce, which was tangy and flavorful, gave every bit of compliment to the fish which was cooked perfectly and was soft and flaky. The tempura had more batter than meat, came cold, and some were undercooked. The edamame came unsalted and tasteless. The eggplant starter was a total disappointment as it had absolutely no taste and again, over battered. Main dishes were ok to be honest, except the salmon which came burned on outside and totally uncooked inside. Even for something as basic as rice in a Japanese restaurant, they served long grain Jasmin rice instead and was totally bland and slightly undercooked. In my opinion, very nice cousin mixed with Japanese & Spanish foods. The staffs were soooo kind and dedicated to explaining everything in the menu, then tailoring the preferred portions as we wish. I will rate our selection as below: 1- Wagyu Meat Tacos: super delicious 2- Fried Rice & Tempura Shrimp: both have good taste 3- California Sushi: very good 4- Japanese Whisky Cappuccino Miso: Perfect, they tailored this one as per our request; with vanilla ice cream instead of Whisky
