I went during a really hot time frame as I got a cosmetic surgery in San Diego and decided to spend half my recovery in Mexicali and the other half in Escondido and then travelling up California. During my stay in Mexicali, the room was special request for main floor only. They put me right beside a quiet pool which was amazing because it was way too hot outside for me and my travel companion. So he could swim as much as he wanted and toward the end so could I. The room was nice and cool temp, I had tons of extra pillows, the room was perfect for what I was looking for. And I was in the heart of Mexicali so all around is shopping and busy life and I know I found the Diamond in the rough. Itâs like a resort in the middle of the city. You cannot hear the busy life surrounding, there was several pools, a bar, restaurants. Honestly just like a resort. There was so much to do, so much to see. The people were friendly. My one card was a travel card. I always bring cash, debit, a couple credits. However my one credit is a pre paid travel card. Which is the one I usually bring out with me and it was being such a pain. They were patient and had to double do everything single payment with that card lmao. Needless to say I got rid of that card after this trip. The one pool is perfect for more crazy and fun and the one pool is very calm and quiet mature, and the rest are happy mediums. So many beautiful trees and so zen. I would recommend this hotel if your going to the city of Mexico. Letâs you have real experience mixed in with still getting the luxury of resort vibe. I travel around Mexico to resorts however for the city I would always...
Read moreIâm in the hotel now.
They have random no smoking rules in random parts OUTSIDE, so my mom was forced to sit away from us as she smoked.
As she was smoking, the guy outside (bald security guard) kept harassing her and telling her where to sit exactly, my mom told him go go away.
The front desk only gave me 1 key, but itâs 3 of us here. I think they should have given us at least 2 keys.
For a 5 star hotel, they didnât even offer to help us with our bags from our car. They only offered to help after we were at the front desk already.
The front desk person wasnât very friendly. He was very short with me. Didnât feel like good hospitality
The room wasnât equipped with coffee, which is super strange. Even 1 star hotels give you coffee.
No microwave in the room, either. When I dialed 0 to call for help, they said ânope, no microwaveâ without a care in the world, they didnât even offer an alternative to microwave my food.
No cold drinks in the fridge. They told me to go buy them from the 7-11 across the street. Come on, this is a 5 star hotel supposedly and you want me to cross the street to buy drinks? Insane. I ended up knocking on the restaurant door and asked for 3 waters. Which, you think theyâd be free considering youâre a 5 star hotel and should be providing those in my room go begin with, but no, I got charged 200 pesos for 3 waters! 10 dollars for 3 bottles of water in Mexico???
The sheets had a blood stain and dirt and a lot of hairs. They donât even clean their sheets.
When I called about #9, they didnât offer to replace the sheets.
5 star hotel? What a joke. DO NOT COME HERE JUST...
Read moreI had stayed many times at the Lucerna in Tijuana, never had problems. Here is my experience in Mexicali. The review below was made by my wife however what she missed is that after the fact that the front desk told me they had two rooms available one for 3800 pesos or another for 4800 pesos I had to take one of them because it was then 11:40 pm. It took me and my wife who has a bad knee 20 minutes ti find our room because nobody mentioned where the room was. Praise God I asked a guess that helped me find my room. I came invited as part of a Group by Rodolfo Cabañas Vildosola who was nice enough to set up the reservations and also Mr. Gustavo Alamaraz Montaño who came for business and we had a chance to meet and talk and also was not to happy with the service. I travel a lot for business and I have to say, I am very disappointed by what it used to be a nice placed to stay. I am still waiting for my money.
Teri Sanchez 2/5 3 days ago on Google My husband and I stayed at Hotel Lucerna, Mexicali on April 9, 2022. We had made and paid for our reservation earlier that week, but when we arrived they told us we didnât have a paid reservation. It was after 11:00 pm when we arrived and we were exhausted so we paid a second time and planned on resolving the issue the next day. I have to say the night time person was very rude and not helpful in the least. The next morning we were told the situation was resolved and we would be getting back our money. To this date ( May 2nd) and after numerous phone calls to Lucerna they still havenât paid. I will never stay at this hotel again as the customer service...
