Beautiful location, a comedy of errors, and an aging building. The bartenders and the housekeeping staff were great, big tips for them :) Firstly the location, proximity to the ocean, pool decks, and view is outstanding and second to none. We like that they have a couple of bars and a restaurant on site (breakfast was good with home made tortillas). We did have a couple issues though. First, they canceled my reservation the day before our stay via an automated email that said “we’re sorry you had to cancel your stay”. What?? After about a dozen calls and emails over 12 hours, I finally spoke to someone who said my card didn’t go through so they cancelled. I understand things happen, (there was apparently a typo), but no one called me they just canceled the room and rented it to someone else (I had the reservation for 2 months). They did offer me another room, however it cost more and they did not honor the same price. Not the end of the world, but it could’ve been handled better. I paid the extra and kept our plans. The other issue was with the spa, I reserved a couples massage (the whole trip was a gift for my GF’s birthday), I booked and paid for 90 minutes, but they ended her massage at an hour. Mine went to full 90 minutes, but the massage was honestly terrible, barely any pressure and the girl would stop every five seconds to pause for two seconds, it was really unusual and frankly more annoying than relaxing. When I was done and figured out what happened they said they thought one of us booked 90 minutes and the other booked 60 minutes (for a couple’s massage??), to make things right they rather indignantly offered us two “free” margaritas. Not even close to the same thing (or $ value). If I want a margarita I will gladly pay full price, what we wanted was a special couples massage. They really ruined the gift and made it worse with a bad attitude. For these reasons I didn’t tip for the massages, I have NEVER done that in my life I always tip 20-30% for any service but this was bad. The building and grounds are beautiful, but they definitely show their age. I would not consider this luxury but overall we did have a good time and really enjoyed the views. Just be careful as some of the staff are not going to go out of their way on your behalf, you will have to be prepared to fend for yourself.

I booked this resort because of the price.. and I am pleasantly suprised that this place is legitimately nice! A little south of Popotla, this "mini" resort is completed with a full range of spa services, the price seemed very reasonable although I didn't have time to try them. There is an infinity pool perched on a short cliff overlooking the ocean, you should definitely take a quick dip in it.. by the pool side, there is a very nice outside bar with couple of gas fire pits, the lower level of the bar offers a much better view to the ocean IMHO. 3 places where you can dine, of which, one is for the breakfast with very good vista, I watched a group of dolphin passing through while having breakfast there! Front desk staff is able to assist you with very good English, everyone I met on property are nice and professional. Room I stayed in is a suite "Gaviotas".. All suites are on third level and forth with ocean view, the floral patterned porcelain tiles in the bathroom and terracotta tiles in the main bedroom area plus a real wood burning fireplace (don't know if you can still use it) make the room feel rustic, there is a mini fridge and microwave in my room. No AC in the room but you don't really need it... but I wish my room had it because I don't like humidity 😅 For the breakfast that's included, you can substitute the $7 value per guest towards menu items you choose.. go for the chilaquiles! I didn't give 5 stars because this is a "resort" but everything ends at 9:00p, no bars open nor a place you can get food 🙄 so if you are staying for a night, after the 3pm check-in time you are not left with much time to enjoy the place!

I remember entering the double doors of Las Rocas entrance area to lobby … it was getting chilly and some winds blowing around. Lots of parking to choose from but I’m pretty sure during peak seasons, this place gets packed.

My partner and I were looking for an over-nighter during the weekday as we wanted to eat dinner at our favorite seafood restaurant that’s on the outskirts of Rosario - Splash. We also wanted to get a few drinks afterwards and hangout at the resort. Las Rocas fit the bill, literally. Our resort bill was half what they normally charge for rooms. We were also given a nice upgrade. Unfortunately, our stay was just for the night.

I didn’t like that there was no elevator to get to our room on the third floor but it was ok as we didn’t have much to lug around. As I’ve previously mentioned, it was just an over night stay at Las Rocas. However, should we have stayed longer, I would have preferred the bottom floor.

The bartender that evening was friendly, engaging and very attentive. Mind you, we were the only ones around and another gentleman. I am pretty sure though, we would have received the same treatment had there been a full house at the bar. Darn, I can’t remember his name (Luis?), but I do recall him telling us he’s been around for 27 years. Such a dedicated bartender and one can see, he loves his job even 27 years later.

Staff at front desk were hospitable and accommodating. The following morning, before our departure, back to San Diego, we had requested to view other rooms. Looking into future stay with our family and friends during summer months. Instantly, I liked the other rooms. They had kitchenettes, an extra room that led to back patio and poolside area, sleeper sofa, and decor had a modernness feel to it compared to that of our room.

We had complimentary breakfast. I must say, for being “complimentary” I expected basic, plain and nothing fancy. Surprisingly, it was more than I expected, both in taste and its presentation. The cook won our hearts. We had a good breakfast along with a very attentive and friendly waitress. Also forgot her name.

Side note. There was some mini construction like thing going on the front steps section of the resort, that led to the rooms stairway. It was taped off. Nothing to cause alarm or seem as safety issue but hoping it would get fixed when peak season comes around. It’s also an eyesore.

Our plan is to return again in the summer as we already got a favorably glimpsed of Las Rocas Resort. Overall experience was great- no...

Booked this hotel for a family get away. Booked penthouse suite with double rooms. In the pictures and online it seemed perfect.

When we arrived we got treated with poor customer service. In our room jacuzzi did not work and was dirty, lamp did not work. One of the bedrooms in our suite had no doors??? They were removed but never replaced. The shower in one of the bathrooms stopped working midway through the shower, only steam came out of shower head. Had to shower in other restroom. After a few hours broken shower worked but only for cold water.

Per online booking an iron is to be provided per room searched top to bottom no iron. Called front desk several times no answer. Walked personally to front to desk only to be told no irons at all in any hotel room but they do offer ironing services for a charge from 9-11 am?

If you’re gonna book here bring your own towels. Front desk wasn’t to happy I was requesting two more towels. They provided one towel and one hand towel per restroom not enough for at least a couple. Bed was super hard and made noise every time I moved. Pillows were in poor condition. Definitely a very uncomfortable stay.

In regards to food restaurant on site is WAY overpriced and not worth it. We ordered a molcajete came with a variety of seafood. The fish that was brought out to us smelled like literal for lack of better term poop. We of course did not eat that and honestly just left after that.

Ended up leaving like 5 am on our checkout date because we were very disappointed and too uncomfortable to stay any longer. One night there was an event going on and music was super loud for several hours late into the night. Do not recommend staying here definitely MUCH room for improvement.

Only pro is the views.

Last thing, be aware when booking this hotel, though no where on their website etc. Are there all kinds of rules so you are informed in advance. Rather a piece of paper is handed to you upon arrival by security stating a few of the following rules: No outside food or drink what so ever, no ice chests, no visitors, etc. Some make sense and are obvious. Wish we knew some of the rules in advance so we did...
