The resort is peaceful and they play a wide variety of music throughout the day which I really enjoyed. The A/C works well and the beds are comfy. We sometimes had to have the circuit breaker reset when used the hairdryer but they were always quick to fix it. One day during our 5 day stay, the resort lost power for 2 hrs. Thankfully, it didn't last long and didn't cause much inconvenience for us. They have shuttle service to 3 other properties and that was helpful and always on time. All the staff members are nice and professional but we especially enjoyed our waiters and waitress at the restaurant. Sergio and Edwin took great care of us at breakfast. They are very friendly, attentive and they anticipate your needs. Enrique and Guadalupe along with Benito (el Capitan) were all very pleasant and professional during the dinner service. Everyone worked as a team and ensured we had a wonderful stay. Thanks to all the chefs and kitchen / bartending staff for all the delicious meals and drinks! Thanks also to Rodrigo and Nohemi at the front desk for helping us with whatever we needed during our stay and Francisco (?) the gardener who keeps the grounds looking nice and presentable. To all housekeepers, thanks for thoroughly cleaning and replenishing supplies. We appreciate you! Although this property is not beachfront, the staff and service made it a very memorable stay and I highly recommend it for a peaceful staycation. The pool is also kept nice and clean. Thank you!! 😃

I can only think that most of these reviews are written by "Bots". The photos look good but the pool is actually tiny. All afternoon and night it was completely over-run by children. This was my first trip to Cancun. I have been to Mexico before and my partner goes to Mexico almost every year; trying out new places all the time. This was her worst experience ever. We arrived on Saturday at around 4pm to Mexico and we arrived back home around 5:30 pm the next day. There was no eddible food (potatoes had bugs in them, no fresh fruit, fresh vegetables were missing, cold cheese (in salad bar) was melted to each other... (it was no better when we shuttled to a sister hotel). Our keys were not registered properly so we couldn't get into our room after arriving. The air-conditioning was under-performing. I think it was due to the horrible condition of the "intake" bathroom vent limiting air flow. Due to the lack of any food we could eat at two of their hotels and we were booked into the wrong hotel in the first place (supposed to be on the Ocean) we just came home and cancelled the trip. The linked hotels include: Ocean Spa, Sunset Royal, and Sunset Marina

As a visitor here, customer service needs to give me the impression they care about the fact that I choose to spend my vacation money with them. When the business forgets that key fact, then the business is not worthy of the money nor time I worked all year to take the vacation. We woke up today at 5:30 and proceeded to get dressed and get out of the door headed to the Hotel Laguna off Pok Ta Pok as directed by the front desk clerk, Ralfel. We arrived at the hotel by 6:30am by two taxi cabs and eventually found that at 7:15am, it was the wrong hotel for our pickup transfer to the tour location. We scrambled to get help to figure out what was happening. The desk clerk at Laguna Suites named Kayla made a call to the number I had and helped me reach a customer service representative for the tour company, Xcaret. She went out of her way to help me and I was not her guest at the hotel. That's the type of person that I would want to know is there if this happens again to anyone. This employee is worth your praise and she brings definite value to this hotel through her positive representation of this facility in her professional behavior.

Positives I had an early check-in just arrived from a long trip flight and I was immediately taken care of by front desk receptionist Teresa she was the best of all the receptionist I met I highly recommend to talk to her she deserves all the respect and more .

Restaurant staff all were amazing. They are truly friendly and courteous .

Negative review

Sadly, I can't speak the same about Ivan the concierge he acted like if he was the general manager of the hotel told me there was no early check-in and ordered me to get something to eat restaurant while I waited I told him that I had already spoken to the front desk clerk. When I came back from the restaurant my room ready, Teresa helped me however Ivan went to the restaurant to start eating his omelette breakfast and I respected him while he decided to go eat . I went inside my room to take a shower suddenly I hear someone knocking it was Ivan who acted like if he was the general manager of the hotel knocking on my door repeatedly calling my room while I was showering. No apologies

They make you take a shuttle the next day to another hotel from 9 am to 3pm to sell you a beach time share ( they call it private residence ) 16.9 interest total of over $9000 dollars in interest rates an extra $ 2750 closing sale commission and $18,900 for a ocean studio for a week offering you financing and $809 lifetime anual maintenance fees . And it's just get crazier they will open champagne bottle if you buy into it. Then you have to go through another sales manager offer you another discount to stay at 3 hotels if you don't buy . And then you go through another who ask you to write 15 contacts . Gives you a 50 $ spa credit.

Beware of sellers at the Laguna suite by pool

Got ripped off by souvenir jewelry seller bought a chain that was 2600 pesos that I found out was 20$ the seller insisted I pay cash ATM told me he gave me a good deal . He spoke perfect English . I don't care about the Money but the deceiving hotel guest should be prohibited . There was no price tags on the items so if you see these white tables by the...

I can't think of a worse experience. Initially we felt good nice room right by the pool. The room smelled so badly of a musty mildewy smell we turned the air conditioner on high and turned the bathroom fan on thinking it would help with the smell. We stayed out of the room all day and when we went back to it that night the smell wasn't any better. Within being in the room for 30 minutes my husband was getting a headache. I started looking around and found where what appeared to be mold was coming through the paint and the ceiling was leaking water. Keep in mind there is a second floor of rooms so where is this water coming from. I went to the desk and reported the problem and explained we cannot stay in the room the way it is. My husband came out and sat by the pool and his headache was getting better. He recently had heart surgery and had issues with his legs so we couldn't go to the second floor because they don't have an elevator. They took me to 3 other rooms and they all had the same moldy smell. While this was going on we learned of 3 other guests that had the same issue the previous day and had to move to 4 different rooms and ended up on the second floor to get rid of the smell. A manager from another property called me and said they were booked up but would move us the next day and our only choice was to go to a second floor room. We went with this and my husband worked his way up the steps. The next day we went to their sales pitch and advised them of the problem and couldn't believe they would even try to sell us with these problems we have experienced without any resolution. Long story short they would not move us to another property unless we would pay and become members with them. The worst part is after all of us that had problems with mold in the rooms and making them aware they continued to let these moldy rooms out to families with children. The pedicure we tried and it was a joke. Nothing more than putting your feet in a bowl of water. Allot if gracious staff but no one able to do anything...

Like most people visiting we attended on a promotion. Basically you get the stay very affordable long as you go to the two hour sales pitch.

So here is the scoop on the place.....

It is a simple hotel with really nice staff (Dyrion, Fiuberto, Juan and Luz are the kitchen staff. The chief and bar tender do a heck of a job. I can't believe the quality of the meals). The rooms are simple and comfortable. Everything is clean, it is getting a little age on it but it's clean and not to loud. It's also a pretty good location once you learn how the shuttle system works. There are many reviews talking about the hotel it's self so I am going to talk about a few other things ... Right beside the hotel is a golf course that doesn't seam to get much use other than people walking it with their dogs. So if you are a runner it's a great run right by the water. The neighborhood is super safe and laid back. You could run at 10 pm with no worries.

Ok so here is how to take advantage of all the place has to offer. Ever 30 min or so a shuttle stops in and you jump on it and are brought to any of the other properties owned by the resort. This is really handy. You can go to the beach, play put put golf, or walk down to the market area. The shuttle is easy to use and comfortable. My 15 year old son could easily use it. Totally kid friendly.

Here is what I would do if your new to Cancun and want to see something and do it easy. One day take the shuttle to sunset royal go to the beach and swim and lounge. Take a shuttle back and take a nap. That evening go to the sunset Marina and play put put golf. The next day take the shuttle to the marina again and ketch the ferry ($36 for two people round trip) to the island and rent a golf cart and tour the island. This will take about a whole day. The following day go back to the sunset royal in the evening and walk down to the market area. Those are some ideas. There are also fishing and snorkeling. And other tours offered. But we like to...
