ACCURATE REVIEW. This is one of the nicest hotels in Ensenada Mexico...and that's a very important thing to understand, this is Mexico. If you're coming to Ensenada and want to stay at one of the best hotels, this is it. Safe off-street parking located in a safe part of Ensenada...although the maxi-SUV's will struggle with the tight parking spaces. But there are tons of spaces available on the street. The pool is warm which is really nice...very comfortable. The rooms are on the smaller side, but from my perspective, that's really not an issue given that you're going to be out and about and not staying in your room all day anyway. The air conditioning works great, and is very quiet if you turn the fan to low. It certainly kept everything plenty cool without being loud. Very nice. It wasn't "perfectly" clean but then again, this is one of the best hotels in Ensenada. The free breakfast is impressive and the dining room is clean. The front desk was kind and helpful. I spoke to one of the managers who was named "Luis". He is a gentleman and very helpful. This is not in the downtown tourist district so there are no rowdy bars over here. Most of the restaurants within walking distance are quite nice...not loaded with taco stands everywhere. It's one block to 7/11. If you are a super picky guest, don't stay in Ensenada, but rather stay in the Valle de Guadalupe wine country. There are lots of exceptional hotels out there, but you're about 20 minutes from Ensenada but in the wine country. It's a trade-off. The views from the hotel rooms is impressive. I don't know for sure, but I think every room has a view of the ocean...and the front side has a view of the sunset. This probably sums it up. Google lists this as a "2-star hotel" which seems completely inaccurate. I'm not sure where they are getting this given that there is a full breakfast, off-street parking, and a very nice pool. A 2-star hotel would be like a Motel 6 and this is way beyond that. At the end of the day the question is, would I come back? Definitely. If you shop for price only, you can probably find something less expensive, but it probably won't come with breakfast and most likely not with a properly heated pool. I hope this is a...
Read moreWe paid in advance upon check-in for 2 rooms for 3 nights, November 17-20.. However, we needed to cancel the last night to return to San Diego. We cancelled with 24 hours advanced notice through the front desk, as required by their published cancellation policy (in English). The front desk also said it would be no problem to cancel but we would need to contact the manager to get a refund. Why this could not be resolved there and then by the front desk seemed very suspicious to us - but we trusted them anyhow.
After checking out, our printed receipt lists our advance payment for 2 rooms for 3 nights but only shows that we stayed in 2 rooms for 2 nights.
After returning to the US, we followed up with the manager who refused to refund the last night citing a so-called "high season cancellation policy" but did not provide us a written copy of that policy to justify their decision. I am now forced to dispute the transaction with my bank in an attempt to obtain the refund.
The front desk customer service and hotel were great - the manager's handling of our refund...
Read moreI was very disappointed, Reserved 1 year before for 2 nights and getting to the Hotel for them telling me we didn't have any reservation when we called 1 week before making sure that we did have our room ready. The lady that was there at the moment was very rude. We asked her to double-check for our reservation, and she said "oh sorry yes. You do have your reservation here" but it will be ready till 3 p.m and min pass by and telling us we didn't we talked to the supervisor also very rude they were deniying to check on my friend and my sister in law reservation because she said it was going to be the same thing. They couldn't figure out our problem, and the only thing they said is that they could not do anything about it very unprofessional. Luckily, my sister in law did have hers, so we told them to let us all sleep in the same room, 1 bed, and 5 of us they didnt have any other option to...
