We had stayed in a couple of more up-market places before coming here and it was a bit of a come down. The rooms are not so flash but it is also relatively inexpensive. The hotel is a big rambling place set around a nice garden with a pool and peacocks. It is in a grant location close to Taxco's main square but far enough away to avoid the noise. Our room was apparently clean, light and airy and pretty quiet considering Taxco is full of throbbing music and Volkswagen beetles and motorbikes roaring up and down the steep roads. ||||However the facilities in the room were certainly no frills. The bathroom was functional but fairly ancient, and had a weird half-inch hob to delineate the shower which I stubbed my toe on twice. The towels had holes in them although they seemed clean.||||But even if you are no frills there were some things that could easily be improved. The receptionist was very cursory with us and did not bother to tell us when breakfast was or exactly where. (You have to walk about 30 metres up quite steep road to get to it.) She didn't tell us about the wifi until we asked (and it didn't work anyway) and we had to lug our own bags halfway to our room before she managed to locate the bellhop.||||Also get a better wifi system (at the moment there are different passwords for different areas in the hotel and none of them seem to be strong enough), supply a second pillow for each person (one is not enough when the bed is the only place you have to sit) and chuck out the towels when they...
Read moreWe went as a big group over the puente and had a great time.||Rooms are nice and big - all had stunning views over the pool and of the cathedral. Lots of furniture meant that we could relax in the rooms and one of the rooms even had a fridge so we could keep our beers cold. ||Breakfast - not great. The “free” breakfast is basically yogurt, papaya, coffee and granola. You have to pay 100 pesos for the buffet which had mixed reviews from those who had it. They had a lot of traditional Mexican foods but I would probably recommend having breakfast elsewhere. The terrace is lovely though.||Pool - absolutely freezing as it is in the shade 95% of the day. Not recommended but we enjoyed relaxing by it when the sun was out in the morning.||Location - very good. 5min walk from main square. ||Atmosphere - quiet when we were there.||Not disabled friendly, we were on the top floor and there was a hell of a lot of steps to the room. No lift.||We had a good stay here and the rooms were great but they need to allow more light into the pool area and be a bit more friendly at the front desk and on...
Read moreVery nice property close enough to the "Centro", but far enough to where you can rest. Short walk to the Zocalo with shops and restaurants along the way (Even short walks in Taxco can be strenuous). An Oxxo convenience store near by, right next to the Ex-Convent. The property has rustic charm and lots of pluses. It also has some negatives - lots of stairs, beautiful, but strange, frosted entry glass doors, small bathrooms, no fans or air conditioning, no clocks or telephones in the rooms. On the plus side, the place is visually very beautiful. You can see craftsmanship and unique details throughout. BIG plus - very comfortable beds and pillows (not often the case in Mexico). Booked through Expedia, included breakfast. When we went to the restaurant, we were informed that it was only "Continental", meaning coffee, tea, juice, and toast. They allowed us to apply the 35 peso cost of the continental breakfast to other ala carte or...
