We stayed in Casa de Maty on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening. At first, despite having just changed our reservation to pay more for an upstairs room, they tried to put us into a first floor. Although they speak no English, by using Google translate, we were able to get an option to two upstairs rooms. We picked the nicer of the two and everything from there went uphill. ||||The fireplace and the location right on the main plaza made the hotel first rate to stay in. Although, breakfast is not included, we went upstairs the first morning just for convenience. Skip Meson De Los Encinos and go somewhere else, for better price and quality of food.||||They help you with the fireplace and you can help yourself to extra firewood. The location was great and the facility was very clean and the staff were very pleasant.||||Parking can be a challenge, since you are subject to free public parking on the square in front of the hotel. ||||The shower was really modern and nice ( as compared to those in other rooms we saw). The bed was unbelievably comfortable and the blankets were fabulous. ||||I do not recommend coming to Tapalpa on weekends since it is flooded by people from Guadalajara. Also, many restaurants and shops are only open on the weekends to cater to the tourist crowds. |||| We hope to return to Casa de Maty again. Just be prepared to be language challenged if you are not...
Read moreCasa de Maty is a beautiful hacienda style hotel right on the town square. Wonderful and attentive staff who were very helpful . ..... even though they only speak Spanish they understand some English as we communicated easily even with our poor Spanish:) Felt like a very authentic experience as the room seemed to maintain its original style while upgrading with modern amenities. Room had brick walls, huge wood beamed ceilings, fireplace in corner, wooden shutters ....typical Mexican charm. Bathrooms were updated with porcelain tile floors, vessel sinks and rain shower heads. Beds and pillows were extremely comfortable with heavy lush comforters....which I imagine are very nice in winter months!! Flat screen TVs with lots of stations....even a couple in English. Wonderful grape vine lights at night, lovely flowers and a fountain in the center courtyard that added to the ambiance. There is a bar with pool table and a game room. Super convenient as it is right on the main square across from Cathedral. Our room was in the back on ground floor and was remarkably quiet given that we were in the center of town! I would definitely stay here again. Price was reasonable and non-negotiable. It was off season so we got in without a reservation....I am sure during their tourist season you would have to have an advance...
Read moreMi girlfriend and I went to Tapalpa to gather info about places for our future wedding. We choose this hotel because is right on downtown. Its location was more than perfect to go everywhere. ||||The hotel facilities are beautiful. Typical Mexican small town resort. Clean! Full of flowers, old wooden furniture, a fire place on each room, I mean, classic, cannot be more Mexican than that. ||||The personal was great! Eva Maria helped us in any way beyond her duties, before arrival I asked to buy flowers and leave them in the room as a surprise for my girl and the flowers were beautiful, she helped us to get all info and places available for our wedding. Give us info for restaurant, etc.||||As you can read in other reviews for this hotel, WiFi is not very good. But who cares? This hotel is made to run away for that kind of urban stuff. So I did not pay attention to this. But if you needed for work, well WiFi signal is intermittent and slow.||||Overall the experience is great! We had a great time and were attended like kings. Hotel is beautiful and coffee in the morning was great! Our stay was on dia de muertos festival and they were having a typical Mexican altar for the dead, and it was beautiful.||||Try this hotel. If you don't want to be Inna cabaña, this is your...
