The room was clean and was comfortable, but that's about all the positive comment I could say about this location. Upon check in, they presented me with a bill and charged me with a higher rate than I booked it for (about 20%) on the credit card. When I inquire about the reason, the only answer I was given was "It's complicated". It's not until I show them my confirmation email before they decided to change the rate. Did not get an upgrade even the hotel was pretty empty. Dinner at the restaurant the first evening was decent, food was good other then stale table bread, and the service was prompt, I gave a very good review on the survey card they presented to me after the meal, but that was before I saw the waiter took my basket of stale bread directly to the next table and gave them to the couple that just sat down, with a piece of bread that was half eaten by me still in it. Since the meal itself wasn't half bad, I went to the restaurant the second night keeping in mind to avoid the bread. This time they out did themselves, I waited around for 10 minutes before anyone decided to show up and seat me. I ordered a steak. When it arrived, there was a 1.5 inch long worm in my steam broccoli (I have photo evidence if anyone is interested). I pointed that out to my waiter, he simply said "Sorry!" and took my plate away, they returned 15 minutes later with a fresh plate but my appetite was shot. The manager never even bother to come by the table to apologize. Interesting that they did not give me a survey card this time... The next morning, when I walk out to the table where they put coffee, OJ and some biscuits for priority floor members. All I found was dirty dishes left by other guest with a half pot of cold coffee. I figured may be they were busy and I'll come back later. Nope! 45 minutes later it's still the same. To cap off the trip, I just realized I'm missing a polo shirt from my luggage when I got home. Since I only have a carry on and I never took it out of the bottom of my luggage, I wonder where that...
Read moreAs a Spire Elite member, I am familiar with the standard of service. I expected more from a hotel twice the price of a non-branded, non-IHG hotel. Having lived for decades in Latin America, I do not accept the excuse of 'cultural differences' as the hotel should conform to the IHG culture and not attempt to hide behind the excuse of it being 'the Latino way of doing business.' I have stayed in hotels which meet this standard in Latin America, including IHG properties. This hotel was disappointing at the very least.
The hotel failed to send the scheduled shuttle (which I had phoned to request the day before from the USA) and was not provided instructions as to where to meet shuttle when it was sent 45 mins. after I called from the airport.
Room had debris on the floor. Housekeeper failed to clean adequately and the housekeeping supervisor failed to adequately inspect the room. As an example, sugar packets on the floor are not hard to see, but somehow they were missed.
Gym was adequate, but the sauna was out of service (the gym itself was hotter than the sauna, which was off.) I chose the hotel specifically for the sauna.
Restaurant service was poor - staff insisted on the buffet and refused to take a room-service order. (It was breakfast and the kitchen was preparing for lunch.) Supervisor argued with staff instead of correcting the waiter.
I left to go find the manager on duty instead. When I explained my observations of the above, the manager was very patient and very kind, offering to provide a complementary order to-go as I was departing for the airport.
The manager failed to ensure that the food was prepared at the desk as promised. The driver was late showing up for the scheduled shuttle departure.
I departed Mexico without having eaten at all during my stay, so I cannot comment on the kitchen staff, who were ignorant of the above. I will not stay at this hotel again and strongly suggest that future guests stay far away from this...
Read moreI got to Mexico City once each month (1 week) on business.
I really want to give this hotel a better review, I just can't do it.
The buffet is over priced, with not very good tasting food. I've been to this hotel about 4-5 times last year. This year I am staying at a different Holiday Inn.
Wifi; is averaging around 0.8 MBPS. I wish they had an option to pay for faster service. This is my main reason why I would not recommend this place. Not having a stable connection in this modern day in age.
Staff during breakfast makes sure you KNOW that "Tip" is not included in the breakfast voucher. It is common courtesy to tip if you receive good service, why make it a big deal to ensure we know we should tip. Come on now, it was almost like begging out in the street.
This hotel is about 15-25 minutes to the Airport and they have a shuttle back to the airport.
If you UBER from there, ensure you place the pin on the road (in front of the hotel) or else they will send the UBER driver to the back of the hotel. It is a tricky location, so be prepared to have the drivers miss the hotel and they'll drive around an extra 5+ mins.
I would go to the bar on my last day of the trip, I would compliment the main bartender(can't remember his name) but overall has a good seating area and nice drink selection. If you want to enjoy a drink, it is good to settle down.
Overall I give this particular Holiday Inn 3 stars. I won't be staying at this location...
