I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Castropol. The staff were great! They were all really friendly and very helpful whenever needed. The rooms and the hotel are all very clean and neat. The location is perfect for a tourist visiting Mexico City. Located right in the Historic District of Mexico City, within walking distance of so many great landmarks and museums. I loved starting the day with a walk to the Cathedral circle to get some tacos on the street, see the vendors and everything they have for sale, and to get saged. If you want an affordable place to stay in Mexico City I highly reccomend Hotel Castropol. Their prices are great. Plus: you can't beat swan towel animals waiting for you everyday when you get back to your hotel.

Third night here and still loving it. Got room 601. Top floor so there was some outside noise, but I usually had the windows open and it wasn't too noisy for me. Great location a few minutes walk to the Zocalo and Metro Pino Juarez and market was even closer. The room and building were very clean. Always had hot water, WiFi, and a room safe. I've been to the restaurant 3 times already and am happy with the food and service. Every staff member I've come in contact with has been polite and efficient. The only downside I can think of is closet space -- enough for me for 5 days, but with more people, it could get a little tight . Besides that, I look forward to visiting here again.

Hotel Castropol offers a prime location within walking distance of the historic center of Mexico City, making it an excellent choice for travelers looking to explore key attractions like the Zócalo, Palacio de Bellas Artes, and Templo Mayor. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained, providing a good balance of quality and affordability. The on-site restaurant serves delicious food, adding to the convenience of the stay. What truly sets this hotel apart is its supportive and friendly staff, always ready to assist with any needs. Their hospitality enhances the overall experience, making Hotel Castropol a reliable and well-recommended choice for visitors to Mexico City.

Our stay started great at this hotel and the staff were very friendly when checking us in. That’s about where it ended, when we arrived to our room we were greeted with stained bedsheets and a room with only three electrical sockets after you used one for the fan you are down to two outlets making it very hard to charge anything due to the lack of plugs. Additionally the wifi in our room didn’t even work after asking the hotel staff they said they would fix it and to enjoy our day out. Once we returned back to the hotel that night the wifi still wasn’t working and after going to the front desk the staff became very rude and dismissive. We asked them to come to the room and see for themselves what we were talking about and they couldn’t be bothered. And insisted that we were wrong and that we should “try turning our phones and laptops on and off again” (which didn’t work we tried) We requested to be moved the next morning which they agreed upon. Unfortunately the second room was no better. The wifi would still cut in and out on the higher floors making streaming a movie, working and doing schoolwork nearly impossible, the water pressure also was also very lacking. There was also a frequent smell of sewage in the room (I assumed that it could be from outside but after closing the windows the smell got worse) The toilet was also leaking water on the floor leaving a constant puddle at the foot of it. In the rooms you are provided with a tv remote this was also not the case for our second room, we also weren’t granted the remote for the ac ether. When trying to call down to the desk with the phone in the room we found out that this was also broken. Overall this place was more pain then it was worth and in the future I should have spent the extra money and saved myself the hassle. Please if you read this review do yourself the favour and don’t book at this hotel you will regret it.

(There reply says sorry our free wifi wasn’t enough. There was no wifi in the first place. They keep saying it was free but all hotel wifi is free and at least in other...

Absolutely not customer oriented Pros: Good location, center of downtown, near Zocalo Square. Comfortable beds, there is a heater in the room, but we did not use it. Free daily water bottles for guests, fast and stable internet connection. Cons: The lighting in the room is tragical one - even when all lights are turned on, it's still too dark. While taking a shower, you have to wait for 10-15 minutes for hot water. There is no fridge in the room (issue when you have your own food), plus there wasn’t even the simple cup ar glass for a drink. Elevator of the hotel is super slow. Staff in the reception is completely indifferent towards the guests: they give you the keys and that's all. They won't advise what to visit in the area, they won't give you any map, they haven't showed even where the restaurant was - absolutely no information for the guests, you must find everything by your own. Even when you go out or return from the city, hotel staff in the reception will not say you even "Good morning" or something. They are hiding behind the monitors and sometimes you did not see them at all. Room cleaning service is super slow and long lasting - you can imagine how we were schocked, when we have returned at 5 PM and found room cleaning lady still inside our room. I think, that these cleaning works must be finished until 3 PM at the latest. Although beds are comfortable, they are covered with a non-breathable bed sheet, which made us both sweat constantly at night. Silence, respect of other guests to the sleeping people and soundproofing rooms in the hotel do not exist at all. Even at 2-3 AM children were running in the corridors and screaming, adults were laughing and making noise while going to their rooms - the quality of sleep has been very poor...
