This location claims ADA accessibility which is a direct misrepresentation. We based and paid for international travel from the US for 3 persons including our wheelchair bound father for 11 days based on the information on the website. The website under the direct control of the hotel clearly indicates ADA compliance in several locations and claims accessible entries. Initially they hotel claimed they are restricted by historical status but make ADA claims none the less. This had considerable impact on our vacation and the hotel management offers nothing. Beware the misrepresentation—this hotel does not comply with ADA and is not accessibly challenged friendly. Hotels in the area were overbooked or 3 times normal cost due to the Mexican Independence holiday which we could not support outside the US. Further: the initial room we were given had a shower and safe not properly functioning. We continually had to request simple room items such as drinking water, glasses, soap and towels for 3 persons. We went without proper shampoo and conditioner for 2 days even though housecleaning did visit. This location is not up to the Hilton standard US or otherwise and the in site manager became belligerent when we complained about the risk to our Father. We fully intend to report this to the Hilton brand and take other actions for the losses sustained. We will be posting this to every travel review we can find to inform other travelers.
UPDATE: Contacted Hilton HHonors and Hilton directly. Lots of tongue wagging but no action whatsoever. So, having no other recourse we disputed ALL hotel charges for the ENTIRE stay complete with photographs as proof of the statements above. The hotel NEVER responded and we were refunded the entire charge. If you have a family member or loved one in a wheelchair, make note that this facility is NOT accessible and management does NOT CARE. Neither does Hilton or HHonors. False claims, horrible management and NO cooperation. I guess that’s what Americans deserve in their thinking. Shame on you all for misleading people, especially those already hindered by physical disabilities. Once you are in your options are limited to none, so be careful and do not expect...
Read moreOverall this is a decent hotel but I probably shouldn't have expected Hampton Inn quality for the price I paid. I'm a Hilton Diamond member but I found a deal through AAA that made this a great price for our Mexico City trip. But, as other reviewers have mentioned, this hotel does have a few quirks that would've made me rather stay at one of the other Hilton properties in Mexico City.
I'll start with the good: the cleaning staff were fantastic and took great care of the property. They were washing the tiles by hand the day we left, which was so impressive. Our maid was awesome and made us feel very welcome by providing the best cleaning possible. The location is pretty good especially if you want to walk to Zocalo and easy street food. We never felt unsafe in this area. The breakfast was surprisingly better than US Hampton Inns some days, but some days it was just meh. The overall aesthetic of the property is pretty cool.
Here's the bad, though: the bed was incredibly uncomfortable which was unlike the very comfortable beds in US Hampton Inns. Every time my partner or I moved we woke the other person up in a king size bed. The WORST part about this hotel was the noise levels, though. We were here during political rallies for the presidential election, so part of that is our fault, but for a hotel in a downtown area it's just way too loud with cars honking all night and police whistles early in the morning. I should've asked for a higher up floor which might've solved the problem, but a floor 2 room on the corner facing the direction of the Zocalo was terrible. Only earplugs saved the day and they barely worked.
The rest of the furniture in the room was pretty terrible, too. Our desk chair was broken and the couch was pretty dated and worn. The shower never got very hot and was in need of a valve replacement. On top of all this, the AC never got below 75 no matter what you did, so prepare to sleep hot.
Overall I would recommend this place for a solo traveler who doesn't mind noise and who can sleep in the heat. Otherwise don't stay here if you're looking for comfort, especially if you're a Hilton Diamond member and you can afford a...
Read moreI selected this hotel even though there were a few negative reviews because I felt that the positives outnumbered the bad ones. And it was the right decision. The most important factor was the location just blocks from El Zócalo and an incredibly low price for my dates. Having been to CDMX multiple times I know exactly what I want. The property is in a very active and lively street with a good police presence. As we arrived at the lobby the place smelled fresh and the staff was cordial. Once in the room I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it smelled. Nothing musty or any smell that projected old property as some reviewers mentioned. The bathroom was impeccable. The king size bed was very comfortable, and historically I have learned that hard beds are common in Mexico hotels. But this bed was heavenly and really high. The housekeeper was warm and pleasant and always looking for ways to help. The rating is kept at four due to a lack of a soap dish in the shower- had to be creative and place our soap between the shampoo and body wash bottles. It also lacks a rack for the hand towels. The coffee at breakfast was cold and I chose to drink coffee at VIPS a few blocks away. Overall this hotel is a good option to stay in Centro Historico. Garabatos is really nice and they have a great tortilla soup. There are multiple pharmacies, bakeries and clothing stores on the street. You walk two blocks and find yourself immersed in all things Zócalo in no time. The main access door requires the use of your room card which makes it extremely safe. Oh, the 5th floor Terrace should be a heaven but it looks nothing like the website pictures. The fancy patio furniture is no longer there. Could have made this review a 3 stars but they really deserve the...
