I had the privilege of staying here on a recent vacation. We were there as part of a larger group which had arranged for pick up service from the airport to the resort. I honestly think from the time they grabbed my suitcase at the airport, I did not touch my suitcase again until we were dropped back off at the airport on our return trip home. The service here was great. All of the staff we interacted with were very friendly, and some of them joked around with us, which was something I appreciated. I almost felt like I was at chik fil a because a lot of times, as I thanked someone there for a drink, food, or whatever, they would respond with, "It's my pleasure." The resort as a whole was very clean and fresh. I don't think I ever saw a piece of trash or anything out of place. There were people always on the lookout for trash and making sure things were tidy and clean We tipped a number of the people who helped us from drinks to food and the lady who cleaned our room each day. While they were appreciative of the tips, no one seemed like they expected them, which made it even more enjoyable. It's very different compared to the states where everyone feels like they deserve a tip for anything they do. We used the concierge service to help us book an excursion. As part of our trip, the people who put it on allowed us to pick one excursion, and then we chose to do another. Both of them were through the Vista people that Secrets recommended. I can't say enough great things about that service. We did horseback riding and ziplining and really enjoyed both. Will post reviews for those with that company The food was all great. We tried a number of food places while we were there and thought it was all really good. From the steaks to octopus to breakfast foods and lasagna, it was all great. The only thing I didn't like was when I didn't know there was mayo on the ham and cheese croissant in the coffee shop. Haha, I definitely don't like mayo, so that was a bad surprise, but they were happy to make me a new mayo free one. I was able to try foods I have not had before, and I was happy with them all and I was glad with the selection of food so I could try things I haven't had before There was a great selection liquors, and they had nice brands. I like gin and tonics and had tanguary, Bombay, Hendricks but they also had beefeater. I think in the premium bars, they had nicer options as well. For beer, they had coors light as well as other options, but for me, my go-to is coors, so I was happy about that The waterpark at the resort was great. My friends and I would have races down the slides and had a lot of fun there. This helped in days when we were at the resort all day to break things up for us. The rest of the day, we'd pool hop and had a great time doing that, especially checking out the views up on the 6th floor pool The rooms were nicely appointed. I was there with a friend, so the only thing I thought would be nice if it was different was how the shower layout is. It would almost be nice to have a barn door to the bathroom so you could close it and get dressed and undressed in the bathroom and not be on display. We just dressed put our boxers on/off in the shower with the shower door closed and worked around it. The overall look of the room is really nice, though, and I liked all of the accent lighting in there. The other question mark was the hot tub thing on the balcony. I'm not sure what to think about this as the water level fluctuated and never got above the jets. It looked like it should be able to turn on, but there was no clear way on how to turn it on. This was something others in our large group mentioned as well. The nice thing is that there were so many other hot tubs in the resort that if we wanted to sit in one, we had like 8 or so options, haha This is a single resort with a family side and then a no kids side. We definitely saw kids on the family side but never saw any on the adults only (the Secrets) side. Google won't let me type more. This place was great and I definitely recommend it if...

Secrets Bahia Mita is a great venue for large gatherings such as conferences and weddings, and the resort offers a solid selection of dining and relaxation activities for short stays. The efficient and effective events staff, the competitive pricing, and the variety of venue spaces offer great value for bigger events. However, inconsistent service and a lack of attention to detail create substantial friction for guests that becomes frustrating during longer stays and diminishes the overall resort experience. I would recommend Secrets Bahia Mita for large gatherings which last a few days, but I struggle to suggest this resort for personal travel lasting more than a long weekend.
I recently hosted my wedding at Secrets Bahia Mita and stayed for a total of 1 week.
(Biggest Positive): Room & Lodging. The rooms at Secrets Bahia Mita are well furnished and maintained. The rooms are spacious for their price, and the beds are large and comfortable. The vanities, fixtures, and showers are modern and provide a good range of space and options for guests of varying ages and mobility statuses. Staff clean the rooms daily, and the housekeeping is responsive to requests. The rooms are easily one of the strongest features of the resort.
(Biggest Negative) Service. The biggest flaw of Secrets Bahia Mita is the inconsistent service which often lacks attention to detail. Oftentimes, Secrets Bahia Mita gets the big things correct such as food, rooms, and basic amenities; however, the resort struggles to provide a detailed oriented experience, which would elevate it to a luxury offering. Mini bars are often left unstocked, silverware is sometimes absent from table settings, room service delivery can take between 1.5 to 2 hours, the occasional towel/linen is stained, staff frequently do not communicate with one another, and waiters sometimes forget to check in on guests or follow up with requests. This resort really emphasizes the saying, âthe devil is in the details.â While seemingly innocuous, these lapses in service and failure to attend to the details compound to create friction for guests that becomes incredibly frustrating during longer stays.
Facilities and Amenities. The overall facilities are aesthetically impressive, and the furnishings create a great atmosphere; the combination of open-air design, glass, and wood create a great contrast of textures and colors that frame the ocean view well. However, while the resort is a relatively new construction, the facilities show some signs of premature aging. Water damage, leaks, old paint, and worn finishings are noticeable and detract from the overall atmosphere of the facility. The size of the building is also quite large for the number of guests, often leading to noticeably long walks. There are plenty of pools across the resort, but they largely offer the same experience (e.g., temperature, depth, shape, features), which can become monotonous during extended stays.
Food and Dining. The food at Secrets Bahia Mita is equivalent to an above average restaurant within most metropolitan areas in the United States. A strength of the food offering is its variety, with roughly a dozen restaurants or small stands with cuisines from Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. However, restaurants have limited hours, and some restaurants are closed throughout the week; closures and limited hours contribute to a lack of food during large portions of the day. The beverage quality was overall okay, but it varied wildly with some drinks containing too little or too much alcohol. A lack of curated cocktail menus at the bars and restaurants also left some guests confused as to what alcohol was available and paired well with food. The room service offerings were also incredibly limited, low-quality, and took roughly 1.5-2 hours to arrive. Taken together, the experience of food and dining was incredibly inconsistent. However, the food and beverage services were more often more...
Read moreThis resort is absolutely gorgeous. It is in a beautiful location and has beautiful architectural construction. Our check in process was excellent, our concierge was very prompt and extremely informative about the amenities within the facility. Secrets and Dreams is the same property â this seems to be a point of confusion for some people based on the other reviews I read but, have no doubt, you arrive at the same point of entry when you get to the property. When we travel to a resort our priorities are rest, relaxation, good food, sunshine, ocean views and good adult beverages. We found all that and more. We were always able to find lounge chairs for the four of us but not always by the pool. If that is important - you need to get out there by 9:30am. The whales were very active during our trip and we saw them playing in the ocean every day. We did have a few glitches but they seemed to be addressed immediately after they were brought to the attention of the staff. Examples include luggage delivery was delayed longer than we would have liked, the friends checking in with us received a bottle of wine in their room â but there was no bottle opener. Our in-room refrigerator was not working. Due to our arrival time most of the restaurants were changing over from lunch to dinner service so they were closed but did find the Barefoot Grill was open and our lunch was good and prompt. This facility is
