Portofino — Restaurant in Nayarit

The food took very long to arrive and the mains were not served at the same time, so some of us were eating and others still waiting. The caprese salad as the entry was decent but my main, the Alfredo fettuccini, was quite bad. Very bland, all I tasted was cream. We asked for salt, the waiter told us he would bring some, but never did. I had to ask for more water three times, and my empty glass was finally filled up after half an hour. All in all, our waiter seemed to ignore us most time, maybe because our table was at the back. Another odd thing was that two times the lights were completely turned off for some sort of fire show. We ate here this evening and it was a huge disappointment. It’s like if 5 teenage boys googled “5 star Italian food” and then opened a restaurant. The ambiance is like a hospital cafeteria, the lighting is awful (dim the lights guys, come on!!), the service was really quite poor (even though the rest of the resort has great service), and the food was just plain silly. I don’t need authentic Italian food to be happy but this was just terrible. Everything they brought to our table was either poorly made, poorly presented, or just super basic. All of the wine is awful (white, rose, and red) as is the beer (amber and light). I recommend skipping this place and sticking with the basic buffet on...

For this dinning experience we had the premium dinner plate of meat. I will say that I do like my meat to be cooked more and have a little of color. The chicken looks very bland. The steak meat had a buttery taste to it so it was delish.

The fettuccine Alfredo was good and was missing some salt. What I find weird is that I don’t recall there being any salt and pepper on any of the tables. The other thing is that they didn’t give us a sharp knife to cut the meat. We had to use the...
