Great place! Highly recommend! We rented out all of Casa Menta for 1.5 months and we were super happy with our stay! Gemma and Alex are super kind and accommodating- they got us a microwave when we requested one, extra hangers, tables, clothes racks, suggested tours, restaurants, helped us find good taxi drivers, good laundry companies, massage therapists even nail technicians to come to the house! They are super kind, very receptive to feedback, and clearly actually care about their guests being really comfortable and having a good time! They were even nice enough to let us store our luggage after we checked out so that we could go to Chacachua for the weekend! The location is two blocks away from the beach so we didn’t miss a single sunset! Its also great because its in between Zicatela and La Punta so that means its quieter at night but easy to get to either area (plus taxis are cheap and easy to get). The beds are comfy, the rooms are clean, the AC units are new and work perfectly! The wifi is good for Puerto standards but does cut out and we did often hot spot from our phones but that’s to be expected here. We felt really safe and happy- thank you so much...
Read moreOur hosts Alex and Gemma were excellent, they went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Alex even installed reading lights the next day after we explained they would be a nice touch for the room. Our room was very large with a comfortable king size bed and the bathroom is large with lots of storage and a beautiful shower. There is AC but we found the ceiling fan kept us cool enough during the night. The pool was always cool and clean, and the communal kitchen had everything you needed to cook all your meals. Every room was given a shelf in the fridge, but it was tight on space, hard to keep your beers cold. The location is VERY CLOSE to the beach, perfect for sunsets though you can't really swim there as the waves are too big (even in winter). There are not any bars or restaurants close by but the cab # they provided was reliable and cheap to get anywhere. Both La Punta and Zicatela are about a 15-20min walk on the beach or walk to the highway to catch a collectivo is 5 minutes away. This is a really great spot, I would stay here again next time in...
Read moreIf you are looking to stay out of the large hotels and find a place that feels like home....this is it. I can't speak highly enough or say enough positive things about the owners and their accommodations. With only being a year old the building, rooms/beds/bathrooms, and all facilities are in amazing condition. The owners go out of their way to make sure your stay is perfect as the hotel stays spotless 24/7, and provide extras that most hotels don't (full kitchen, laundry, ice cream, etc.). It is a very close walk to the beach but you can also relax at the pool for a cool dip and beer. With it being only a 5 room hotel it stays quite and feels like you are at your own house vs being overwhelmed with 100 guests at the pool or walking up and down the halls at night.
Quick Summary: Stay here if you want quite, close to beach, clean rooms, comfort, and don't mind having to walk a little more or taxi/scooter to dinner. But note that you can get food from the market and make your own meals...
