Café Mar — Restaurant in Oaxaca

Went there 2 days ago and ordered a cappuccino, which was very good and the ingredients are good too. But after my experience today, I hope you receive this as a opportunity for improvement. Today I went again and when ordered a cappuccino, just received this without even being asked if was fine for me, just heard “sorry, no foam today” I mentioned that I like the foam and a creamy coffee (that’s the whole point why I ordered a cappuccino) and she just said that with oat milk is hard to do it and didn’t even try to fix it. This should have been said to me before, so I could decide, right? Paid $80 pesos for something that I definitely didn’t...

The best coffee I have had in my life! I wasn’t used to quality like this and it changed my perspective of real coffee. Mariana (the owner) is super-nice and great person for a good coffee conversation! She also bakes amazing cookies which aren’t expensive and sooo worth it. The van is located in the centre of Puerto in front of a cool hostel and the whole vibe is great. I would really recommend you to visit Café Mar when you’re in Puerto Escondido!

This seemingly nondescript VW Bus has the BEST coffee in the area. The barista is super friendly, speaks great English, and is a one woman show so there can be a bit of a wait during peak times, but so incredibly worth it. Not sure about the “terrible service” reviews — perhaps they were just in a hurry? Gotta take things a bit slower in Puerto...
