For the price (I paid $33 per night plus taxes and fees for a double room), this is a very solid choice. It has a nice pool and restaurant, and its layout definitely puts you into a vacation mode. The rooms are spacious enough and clean, have hot water and air conditioning, and secure gated parking (uncovered) is available. ||The only true disadvantage to this hotel is its distance from the centro, which is a pretty significant walk, or a taxi (50-100 pesos) each time you want to go anywhere. ||Some of the complaints in the other reviews make me laugh: if you're expecting high-end U.S. standards for less than $40 at a major travel destination (almost anywhere, really), you may need to recalibrate those expectations. Fancy hotels are definitely available in Oaxaca, but be ready to pay U.S. prices for those standards! For everybody else, this is an awesome choice that is scenic, relaxing, and good for both...
Read moreGreat room, extremely clean and we appreciated the extra water! The hotel itself is gorgeous, the beds are comfortable, parking was available and fenced in, and the wifi is fast in the common areas. My husband and I enjoyed our stay here because we didn’t let the little things bother us. The cleaning staff was friendly, but according to other reviews it seems like if you “bother” the front desk you will have a different experience, so we kept to ourselves. The walls are thin, but I think sounds were amplified due to the little maintenance alleyways outside of the bathrooms. The pool isn’t heated, which is expected for warmer climates (I also appreciated that the pool was not overwhelmed with Chlorine). Since we’re from the American Midwest, we didn’t mind swimming in cold water when it was 80°F. If you’re looking for an “American” hotel that is catered to your every need, then don’t...
Read moreOur experience was dreadful. We arrived by flight and taxi in the late afternoon, only to be told that our "confirmed" booking had in fact been double booked and our junior apartment was occupied by someone else. We were offered a room in a shabby house nearby which we paid for one night since we didn't want to sleep on the street being a bit old for that sort of thing (I'm 75). We put our bags in the house and walked into town for a meal. We found a small hotel on the way and booked ourselves in. We went back to the spooky house and collected our bags, handed our keys back to Reception. We were not offered any refund. What a great start to our 6 day stay in Oaxaca, which is a lovely...
