I am debating on whether giving it 3 stars or 4 stars, first the good things: It is a clean place, there is no complaint there I never found any dust or anything dirty. Also the location is great, very close to some bars, restaurants and downtown (which is the best part of Queretaro). The staff is friendly specially the guy who is on the desk, very attentive and explains you everything patiently in detail.||Now the not so good: It's an old place with little to no renovation, if you get a private room you don't have private bathroom they are outside the room and on the other side of the place. Also the private rooms are at the entrance of the hostel so if you are a person with light sleep you will get woken up all night from the noises outside and the people going in and out of the hostel. People outside on the street sound like if they were inside the room talking, it's a bit strange since the window is closed.||||There is a breakfast though it is very simple, it consists of a bannana and three little pieces of bread where you can spread jelly. The doors close at 12 if I remember correctly and to go in again you use a fingerprint lock (when you arrive you get your fingerprint recorded). ||||Honestly the pictures posted here on Tripadvisor are flattering to how the place looks in reality, it's a very simple place with very simple furnishings. The thing that did disappoint me are the bathrooms, they are very little and offer little privacy, there are actual holes in the door where you can peek in and pretty much see everything inside. This made me uncomfortable enough so as not to take a shower. There were other bathrooms but I didn't see them, only the ones in the back.||||All in all it's an ok place, it's hard for me to give a good review since this is only the second hostel I have stayed so I don't know really what is expected. From a 30 something year old perspective I have to say I prefer something more accomodating, but maybe someone younger might have no problem with the details I explained before.||||Btw these days the street is being renovated so if you use a GPS like Waze to get there it might get a little lost. If you have a car don't come from the side of the arches as the way is closed, you have to enter by downtown on a narrow two way street. There is parking right in front of the Hostel. Also the...
Read moreWhile the hostel is beautiful aesthetically, there are a lot of improvements needed. First, the 'free' breakfast is actually one piece of bread, a piece of fruit and a coffee. This morning we waited 45 mins for a piece of bread we had to toast ourselves. If you want more, They have a restaurant that you have to buy additional food from and can't use yourself. The extra food is delicious though!||There are no towels, not enough blankets and on our first day the showers had no pressure making it almost impossible to use. It takes about 10mins for the water to warm up if you want a hot shower. ||The system for accessing the building after 11:30pm is a finger print scanner, which doesn't seem to work for at least 50% of people. There are no night time staff and the ones during the day vary greatly in terms of friendliness and English ability. ||The rooms are not particularly quiet as they are all set around the common area, though we were impressed with the size of the room.||Queretaro is a lovely place to visit and this hostel does have some charm. The concept of his h tel is great and We were really happy with a helpful staff member yesterday and the hostel in general is fine to stay in, we just think they have a long way to go to earn their...
Read moreWe had been traveling 35 hours before we arrived to Blue Bicycle House and we were literally exhausted. The girl at the reception was super friendly and nice, she moved us from bigger shared room to 4 people room that we had all to ourselves. We were so tired and suffering from the jetlag so we werent that bothered by the noises which are really loud during the night as the walls are like paper. Also our room was pretty close to the entrance so you can hear clearly the noises coming from there. The rooms and bathrooms and common areas are clean. The rest of the staff was also super friendly and helpful. Wifi works very well. The hostel has a great location, only 5 walk to historic center. Great view from the terrace upstairs. We had a nice stay in here. Ps. reservation always includes one hour...
