Princesa de Peñasco Resort Condominiums — Hotel in Sonora

I booked with airbnb so I do want to say that the actual owner of the condo and airbnb were great. I had stayed at this place before and felt it would be safe to go with familiar grounds. First time I stayed I noticed the security guards following us around but didn’t think much of it. Later that night they knocked on our door saying to turn down the music but all we had was the living room tv on. So we were confused by it but turned off the tv to avoid issues. This last time I stayed I took my children with us my daughter and I were harassed by a security questioning us and speaking very rudely to me. My husband was at the pool and wasn’t able to help. My daughter sacredly ran to get help. This issue was all because they saw us hanging out with a dog on the beach and followed me and my daughter to our room as I was taking her to use the restroom. They assumed I was keeping the dog in the room and didn’t even want to let me speak. ( I have evidence he was not staying with us at the resort) they did not allow me to close the door and I need to use the restroom. I felt harassed and afraid. My husband finally showed up and he took control as I was distraught. My children were afraid of this man. Who I found out he was actually the supervisor. He was being disrespectful and told us that us Americans think we can do whatever we want in Mexico. This trip was booked for my daughters 11th birthday. She just wanted to go to the beach. It has left such a horrible feeling in our stomachs we will no longer be visiting...

My family and I had previously visited Princesa Penasco and had such a pleasant experience that we decided to return for another stay. Unfortunately, our second visit was drastically different and thoroughly disappointing. The main issue arose when one of our friends, who joined us a day after check-in, was denied entry by security despite us being within the allowed guest limit for our unit. We explained the situation, but the security personnel made no effort or attempt to compromise or accommodate our friend. They outright refused entry, and informed us that our friend could only join us on the public beach. Things took a turn for the worse when, while trying to enjoy our remaining time at the beach, the same security guards began following us around, harassing, and threatening to evict our entire party from the resort simply for the fact that our friend was with us on the beach. We were simply trying to relax while still following the resort’s rules, yet we were met with unreasonable threats and intimidation from the security staff employed by Princesa Penasco. This experience completely ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing last night in Rocky Point. It’s disheartening that a resort that once provided a pleasant stay would allow such unprofessional and hostile behavior from its security team. Condo owners are mostly retired Americans. Which is really great if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful vacation. There's an "owners only" hot tub in the center, and considering we own a condo, we thought would have access to it. They kicked us out of it and made us go to another one... Mind you, my family being the ONLY ones in the hot tub areas. We were also asked to turn off our music while in the 'regular' hot tub despite it only being 7pm. The music was playing from a phone, we didn't have a loud speaker or anything of the sort. Quiet hours were supposed to be from 9pm - 7am. Additionally, only one of the pools was heated. Therefore it was the busiest and always had people in it. Wish at least one of the other pools was heated.

Beach access was easy, the condos are nice and spatious. The hot water gets really really hot. Which is nice considering the condo has a tub. Parking lot is pretty safe and it was relatively easy to get to.

I would not recommend this place for young adults trying to party. Too many old people that will call security over...
