So I got Stuck without a hotel room in Veracruz on a weekend.||I had to drive about an hour back to this town to find a hotel||First let me tell you a little bit about this town Xalapa. Its amazing!!! A hidden jewel. The population is about a half a million people and it’s located right between Puebla and Veracruz. The weather is perfect. The streets are clean. The town is well lit and extremely safe. I think it’s the safest city I’ve ever been in in Mexico. People do not appear to be afraid to walk around at night.||This hotel Is located right on the main drag of the city. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the Zocalo (city center) and a very nice park||The cost of a room is about 850 pesos which worked out to be about 50 bucks. Not bad for a decent hotel room. The rooms are very nice and spacious but there is one clear disadvantage. There is no air-conditioning. Now granted the weather is actually pretty nice so you don’t have to worry about it at night. You can just open up some windows and it is really safe enough to do so. However, if it gets to be a hot day you’re pretty much gonna be sweating and miserable all night. That is the only thing that prevents me from giving this hotel a five rating.||Parking is down the street about a half a block and is free. They also offer free breakfast in the morning which is pretty decent. The service is outstanding.||I highly recommend visiting the city and even staying at this hotel as is probably one of the best experiences I’ve had recently...
Read moreJust a quick note before my review: The location is not accurate. This is a school, the hotel is the building next door.
Now, I must start saying that I would likely come back to this hotel, the price is fair, rooms are spacious, customer service is great, and the location is just spot on. They have a restaurant, but I didn't use it, so they gave me a discount for not including the breakfast. They have parking 24/7 100ft around the corner with safety guard the whole time. I had an issue during the night with the AC unit, and they gave me a different room at that time. This was amazing, and I really thank them for this because I was traveling with my kids, and they would have had a bad night. I just have a little note for travelers (especially international ones). This city is full of bugs. It has a kind of roach I've only seen in this area. This is not a problem only from this hotel, I've seen it in way more expensive hotels in the city, and even in apartments. Just make sure you don't have anything on the floor or food in your luggage, or you may take some unwanted "souvenirs"...
Read moreI stayed here for a convention after the Gran Hotel was sold out and so happy I did. Service was outstanding! The bellman took care of my luggage without asking or expecting a tip. I gave him a tip anyway. He also ran my parking passes each day.||The parking lot is a few doors down but very secure. No problems when I left my belongings in the car.||Rooms are comparatively quite large and very clean. Great view of the mountains from my windows and balcony.||Check in and out was...
