Berber Camp Merzouga — Hotel in Caïdat de Taouz

My wife, littel son (20 months old), two friends and I booked the "Day & Night Camel Trekking" and we were really happy that we've booked the tour with Berber Camp Merzouga. The tour itself started in the late afternoon (around 4.00 pm) and ended the next day in the late morning (around 10.30 am). Everything was well organized and Hassan, the owner of the Berber Camp Merzouga, is a sympathetic guy who tries to make the trek an unique experience for his customers. Before starting the trek, Hassan borrowed us scarfs and he also prepared an original berber turban for each of us. During the camel trek it was just the five of us and we were accompanied by one guide. Our guide was also very courteous and he treated the camels well. In general we had the impression, that Hassan and his crew treats their camels well. The camel trek to the camp took arround 3 hours as we stoped at a high dune to climb it and watch an amazing sunset there. In the camp (we've booked the luxury camp) we met another family (so in total we were 10 guests). Hassan and his crew prepared a delicious four-course meal for us and after dinner they started a campfire where all of us sat down. Besides listening to the Berber songs, we were invited (and instructed) to play drums, sing songs, and dance around the camp fire. Furthermore, we had sufficient time to relax by the fire and watch the darkest sky and brightest stars we've ever seen. Before leaving the camp the next morning, we watched the sunrise and afterwards we had a large and various breakfast. On our way back we had a short stop to try sandboarding. Amazing camp located in the middle of Merzouga dessert, amazing hosts, brilliant activities (depending on what you want there is an additional charge), delicious food (breakfast, lunch, dinner – the food was the best we had throughout our 2 weeks stay in morocco), beautiful campfire entertainment, clean large luxury tents and once in a lifetime experience! We honestly couldn’t have picked a better camp other than Berber camp. We had the BEST holiday and birthday ever!! :) Thank you so so much guys for everything you have done for us during our stay and making us feel like at home - you were all AMAZING hosts and went above and beyond to make sure we had an unforgettable experience. We arrived after midnight at the airport of Errachidia, and the guys came to not only pick us but also provide us with delicious dinner to ensure we don’t go to sleep with empty stomachs. The tents were beautiful, and equipped with extra blankets so we don’t get cold at night. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. We saw the beautiful sunrise and sunset covering the dunes, we used Quad ATV bikes, we rode camels, we did sandboarding, 4x4 around the desert and visited the berber nomads and Khamlia village, SAF SAF Oasis and every night at the campfire we sang along and played music with our amazing hosts. When the guys found out it was my birthday, they even made a homemade cake for me, dressed me like a queen, sang Happy Birthday and played music for me. Words can’t describe how special you made my day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! If you are considering whether you should book here or not, we 100% recommend Berber camp. Hasan, Mohammed, Barak, Mobarak, and everyone at the camp will make sure you have the time of your life....

great trip. I decided to go with Hassan, he is a great communicative person. the trip was well organized from pick up from the parking lot, planned attractions and other details. the people working with the camels and in the camp were very helpful, they asked if everything was ok and if they could help with anything. The ride on camels to the village was a great experience, the guide talked about the desert, life and culture all the time. during the night in the camp there was nothing missing. the tents were very luxurious with hot water, wifi and power sockets. the dinner was the best I have had in morocco, breakfast was also very good. the trip exceeded our expectations. the staff were great as was their attitude, no one was pushy.
