The camel ride to the Luxury Camp, lead by a really friendly and knowledgeable Berber guide, was such an unforgettable experience - I do recommend wearing a pair of gloves with a good grip and a lot of sun cream on the way to the camp! Towards the end of the camel ride, we stopped near the camp to take pictures of the sunset and the golden dunes of the Sahara. The camels, as far as I'm aware, were also being treated well. In the private tents of the camp, there's running water, electricity, WiFi, comfortable beds, a nice shower and soft pillows. There is a central, public tent where dinner takes place and it's a good opportunity to speak to the guides and meet fellow guests there. By day, the heat in the desert is scorching but at night, it can get really really cold. The lack of light pollution in the area and the fact that it was a clear and "moonless" night created the perfect opportunity for stargazing and allowed us to have a really really good look at the Milky Way galaxy with naked eyes. We were fortunate enough to see meteors too. Make sure you're awake for sunrise as it looks amazing from the camp....
Read moreWe spent a night at the camp in early September. We took a 4x4 out to the camp rather than riding a camel (been there, done that) but those who took the camels seemed to enjoy it. The camp itself is quite impressive and one of several in the same are of the Sahara. The dining tent is large and traditionally decorated. The food was traditional and very good. The breakfast was spectacular and huge! The sleeping tent was large, interestingly decorated and very comfortable. There is lighting and a USB charger but no plugs. There is also a full washroom in the tent which is pretty impressive. The only caveat is that there are no fans in the tent so sleeping is tough - the night time temperature was around 30 degrees (~90 F). There was a campfire with traditional instruments which was fun and the night sky and sunrise over the dunes is beautiful. Staff was very nice and helpful. A great vacation experience and a...
