Staying at La Colombe Blanche in Moulay Idriss was one of the most personal and authentic experiences of my entire trip through Morocco. From the moment I stepped inside the riad, I felt welcomed — not just as a guest, but as part of the household.
The hosts took time to explain the traditional Moroccan architecture — from the many steps to the tall archways and ceilings designed to keep the interior cool naturally. It worked. Walking in from the heat into tiled, beautifully decorated rooms was like entering a serene oasis. Every corner of the home was thoughtfully crafted and rich in Moroccan charm.
My room was minimalist, spacious, and just right — perfect for keeping myself organized during my stay. But the real magic was the food: the kefta meatball and egg tagine was absolutely unforgettable, and the 7-vegetable couscous was the perfect pairing — full of flavor, warmth, and care.
After exploring the city and catching a breathtaking sunset from the public terrace, we capped the night on the riad's rooftop — where we could hear a wedding celebration in the square below, complete with live music and the energy of belly dancing echoing through the streets. It was beautiful, joyful, and alive — just like Moulay Idriss itself.
Thank you to the incredible family at La Colombe Blanche for your warmth, generosity, and for making this stay feel so special. I’ll...
Read moreI stayed here as part of my organised tour of northern Morocco. The accomodation is more B&B style rather than hotel and the family who run it extend their warm hospitality to all who stay with them. We were treated to a cooking demonstration on how to make couscous (not the instant version) and my fellow travellers all reported the meal was delicious (I was too jetlaggged to stay up for it!) ||||The rooms were cozy in style but a little damp however there are A/C units which you can out on for heat (some fellow travellers reported theirs as not working, we didn't try ours in our room). The hot water for the shower is only turned on in winter after dinner and so I missed having a shower at all. The water runs all over the bathroom floor though so be warned. ||||Breakfast was very tasty with fresh, hot Moroccan crêpes. ||||All in all a good place to stay, but don't expect fancy, just true humble...
Read moreIn the beautiful town of Moulay Idriss, our tour group got to stay at the Columbe Blanche Hotel. It’s a lovely homely place – sort of like staying in a friend’s house.||||The hotel is over many levels and I got to stay in a room on the roof terrace. The room was a good size and also came with a reverse cycle air conditioner and thick blankets – which was especially useful as it got cold at night.||||The bathroom was a bit basic, as it took a while for warm water to come out. You had to put the shower head over a bucket as the drainage system did not work well. But I was happy with the room overall.||||The owners were really friendly and made you feel very welcome.||||The dining areas were greatly furnished and comfortable, and the food served was delish. Wi-Fi is...
