Hostel9 — Hotel in Yangon

We had a great stay here at Hostel 9. We found the common room/area to be very clean and tidy and comfortable to sit on the cushion area and chill or to sit at the benches and use the WiFi. We had a private room up on the 4th floor - the stairs where a killer walking all the way up but aside from that the room was very basic but clean. No window but we didn’t mind as we liked the darkness to be able to catch up on some sleep. The shared bathroom areas were really clean and well maintained - toilet roll always topped up etc and nice hot powerful showers. The staff were friendly and helpful, getting our room ready for an earlier check in when we first arrived and allowing us to hang out at the hostel after we’d checked out before our onward journey. Place is in a great location too - all easy walking distance to china town and exploring the streets of Yangon and good restaurants nearby. They also have a rooftop area with a bar with happy hour - a good place for an early morning workout too :) Would recommend...

positive: There is a common area (which is not nice nor comfi nor clean but there is one where you can hang out with other travellers) but there is NO ROOFTOP to hang out!||||negative: We booked and paid for breakfast - they do not offer breakfast!||- no window in the room||- room is really maulty||- ants in the room||- the bathroom is disgusting||- no good working showers||- the staff is not nice and not helpful at all (they simply do not have any idea where something is, for example train station for circular train)||- the location and surrounding is not nice at all||- there is a rooftop BUT NO TABLES OR CHAIRS, rubbish everywhere and hasnt been used...

This hostel was nothing as described. I’m not sure if it is because we were there during low season or what, but I was very disappointed. Many small things did not make sense and it seems they realized this and tried to cover it up. If you do not offer breakfast, rooftop, atm, walking tour, or check-in at the advertised time (4 hours late because I think they forgot about my reservation), please make sure to let your customer know upon arrival, instead of letting them find out on their own. The staff was friendly, just very unorganized and a bit awkward at the moment, I’m sorry to say. I was very excited for this hostel and I appreciate the efforts...
