Novotel Yangon Max Hotel is a great place to stay. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and well-located—just a short walk from Junction Square and Hlaedan Center, which makes shopping and dining very convenient.
The breakfast is normal but good, with a fair variety of choices. However, I had a disappointing experience at the egg station. I ordered three sunny-side-up eggs and told them my table number, expecting them to deliver it as usual in a hotel of this level. But the staff at the counter told me to go and pick it up myself at the bar counter. It felt disrespectful—especially for a hotel like Novotel where guests expect proper service. It made me feel like he didn’t value local Myanmar guests, and I honestly wondered if he would have said the same to a foreigner. It was frustrating and broke the peace of my morning. I told him clearly: "I won’t come. You bring it to my table, I’ll wait."
Another issue is the bathroom accessories. Not everything is provided in the room—you have to call and request basic items. They claim it’s to protect the environment, which I understand. But if I have to call, and a staff member then takes the elevator just to deliver one small item, isn’t that wasting more energy? It seems inconsistent.
Overall, while the hotel has good facilities and location, the service attitude—especially towards local guests—needs improvement. Respect and hospitality should be equal for everyone, no matter where...

Read moreVery disappointing and disrespectful to our family when we came here expecting to sleep in a luxurious hotel. But meet a disrespectful receptionist who refused to give us the room we booked. We booked 8 rooms which one room had an extra bed. They refused to let us go into the room because we were “underaged” when we had our parents, uncles, and aunts who came with us. I had high hopes for this hotel, but my experience was completely ruined by the receptionist’s awful attitude. From the moment I arrived, they acted like I was inconveniencing them just by checking in. No greeting, no smile—just a cold, dismissive attitude.
When I asked a simple question about the amenities, they rolled their eyes and responded in the most condescending tone. Later, when I had an issue with my room key not working, they acted like it was my fault and made me wait nearly 20 minutes before bothering to help.
Hospitality is supposed to be about making guests feel welcome, but clearly, this hotel missed the memo. If management doesn’t do something about their front desk staff, I’d recommend staying anywhere else. Absolutely...
