We have stayed at Prestige many times with our family and have always enjoyed our visits. However, during our most recent stay, we were extremely disappointed by several aspects of our experience, especially when compared to our previous visits.
First, the restaurant service was incredibly slow. It took an hour to receive our first dish, and even after that, each item arrived separately with long waits in between. We ordered our dinner at 6 PM to be ready by 7 PM, hoping to enjoy a family meal together, but the food was cold and served in a disorganized manner. The chicken skewers and fried kangkung were cold, and the tom yum soup took another 20 minutes to arrive — also cold. Then, after yet another 20-minute wait, the shrimp dish was served, followed by the pork dish, which only arrived after we had already finished eating. This constant delay ruined our appetite and overall dining experience. While the waitstaff were polite and apologized, this issue clearly stems from poor kitchen management and a lack of coordination.
What’s even more disheartening is the noticeable drop in food quality.Even the buffet, once a highlight, was poorly managed. Refills were not timely, and staff would disappear after bringing out one item.To make matters worse, the pool area was in a terrible condition. It was dirty, with leftover food, beer bottles, and trash scattered around.While the customer service staff remained friendly and courteous, the overall experience was marred by poor management, unhygienic facilities, and declining food quality. Sadly, we no longer feel that Prestige is the welcoming and high-standard place it once was, and we have decided that we will not be returning in the future.

Read moreWe stayed here in June 2021 and decided to come back again in November. The hotel isn’t what it used to be. Don’t expect any greetings or welcoming words at the reception. Grumpy faces and dry expressions. Also they don’t bother talking to their foreign customers. They simply used my local fiend as if she was my translator. ||We checked in pretty late and asked them to change the towels because they were old and brownish. They said they will send new ones. Of course they brought us exactly the same. If there’s something that I can’t stand at hotels it’s dirty towels that hundreds of customers used before you and wiped god knows what with. ||This hotel isn’t cheap but nobody cares about such simple hygiene measures. You are treated like a lackey, as if you were begging them to let you stay for free. This is disgusting and unacceptable. ||When we were checking out, the reception lady followed me outside as if I were a thief to tell me that they were still checking the room. I was just taking my luggage (by myself!) outside because my friend was looking for a taxi. ||I came back and we paid for the coffee that I have ordered and she found it courteous to tell my friend in Burmese that they didn’t have the change. I was supposed to accept this easily and just go with a smile after such a disrespectful and dry treatment. It was only 200 kyats but it was totally unprofessional from her side to think that I should accept this. I bet that if it was me who didn’t have the 200 kyats they would’ve treated me like a beggar. ||The manager (or owner) is even worse and doesn’t care about customers who look young or simple. I have stayed at this hotel many times with my family and always had a pleasant experience, which is why this visit was such a huge disappointment. While the pool is still clean and the service used to be good, everything else has clearly gone downhill.
The restaurant has always taken a bit of time to prepare food, but it was worth it for the taste. However, this time the breakfast buffet was extremely disappointing. There was very little variety, and once the food ran out, it was not refilled. We went early and still found empty trays—no sausages, bland food, and barely any fruit or pastries. Before, a staff member would monitor the buffet and ensure everything was topped up. Now, it seems no one cares.
What’s worse, couples were behaving inappropriately at the pool, and no staff stepped in—even though there were families and children around. It was uncomfortable and unacceptable.
We noticed that all the familiar staff we used to see are gone, replaced by new faces. The difference in service is obvious. At checkout, the receptionist was casually chatting about going for a swim, which felt unprofessional given the poor experience we just had.
Frankly, it feels like the management has stopped caring about guests. Either the staff is being told not to refill the buffet, or something shady is going on—I even saw a staff member hiding desserts in the fridge and putting out just a few bananas.
