Byblos Pub & Grill — Restaurant in Yangon

After my comment has been deleted on Tripadvisor, I repost on google as this is a shame to hide such poor behavior. I am not being impolite, nor disrespectful.. unlike the host of this place.

We went there a few weeks ago. Late night, with a friend who heard of that place. The first feeling about it was nice. A bit small and noisy, the drinks were ok and service a little bit slow, but the staff was trying their best to be helpful. And the design was really nice. We could see a foreign touch there. I asked the staff who was the owner, I was shown a white hair European man, staring at us with a drink.. at the corner of the bar.

I approached him to say how much I appreciated the design. I did not have the time to say anything as he suddenly became very agitated, and started to scream and swear. I asked what was the problem and he got even more out of control screaming " who brought this woman next to me. Remove her from my view. Remove her from my restaurant" without even addressing me directly. The staff apparently did not know what to do, he was talking to them as if they were his slaves. He was obviously drunk and very aggressive.

I was amazed and shocked by what just happened. We were basically kicked out of the place. On the way out, one staff told us the owner hates women.. and not to worry too much. Why don't they mention before end that women are not welcome..?

I strongly discourage anyone to go to this place as I do think this horrible person made this place go from amazing to hell just because of his terrible attitude. It is scandalous, I have never been treated in such a way. First time I see such a thing in my life.

A Whisky Sour That Fell Flat I have been coming to Byblos since 2017 and I really enjoyed the food and drink there. My go-to-drink is whisky sour and they are normally really good. I am not sure what happened last Friday when I ordered whisky sour. Unfortunately, it left me disappointed due to issues with the preparation of the egg white. First of all when I got the drink, there was no foam topping and I asked the waiter if they add any egg and he said there was egg. Then I requested to add foam which they did but the egg white was not beaten properly. As a result, there was a noticeable absence of the characteristic foam that adds both texture and visual appeal to the drink.The lack of foam wasn't the only issue; it also impacted the overall taste and mouthfeel of the cocktail. Without the silky, frothy texture that a well-beaten egg white can provide, the Whisky Sour felt somewhat thin and unbalanced. This is really a fantastic place and wonderfully decorated. They have separate smoking and non-smoking sections the food is amazing and very good for the price. The pizza is the best that I've had in Yangonand the beach is certainly the best I've had at that price.
