Grand Hotel Begnas — Hotel in Pokhara

I stayed here one night in May after cycling from Pokhara doing the Royal Trek route, this hotel was recommended in the latest lonely planet Nepal book, I found the rooms overpriced and dirty. ||This sadly is the best of the a bad bunch near the lake, I checked out 2 other guesthouses that were beyond dirty and even worse than this place. ||Also during the night there was a group noisy guests who were loud late into the night. They also made loads of noise at 4am in the morning when they work up! ||I know the hotel can't control the guest's who are staying there, but a little common courtesy never went a miss. ||Additionally during the previous night, one of the staff members tried to come into my room without knocking! this happened on several occasions even after I spoke to the manager. ||To be honest if visiting this lake, I would suggest just doing a day trip from Pokhara you can either take a taxi or local bus very cheaply. ||It is very beautiful the lake and well...

I and my friends had a worst experience in this hotel. The owner of hotel was arrogant and unfriendly. I am saying so because we reached to that hotel late evening and we had a handful of luggage with us so we didn’t have much time to visit other hotels for the room inquiry. Knowing that we didn’t have much opinions, the owner of the hotel overpriced room so we were compelled to pay high price for the rooms which even didn’t have some basic amenities such as toilet paper & drinking water. Me and my friends were on business trip and had to stay around Begnas area as a transit to next location. We reached late and stayed on a mediocre room paying absurd prices. I am a frequent traveller so I do have a proper knowledge about room prices and felt it very high. Apart from this we informed the reception that we will be roaming around begnas and will be at hotel around 9 PM.
