We liked this hotel a lot. The staff is friendly and the location is fantastic! The food in the restaurant is also really good, they have a special menu for children and cook vegetarian dishes as delishous as meat or fish. And if you want to cook in your room this is also possible as you have a fully equipped little kitchen! If you love windsurfing this is the perfect place for you! There are 3 companies nearby offering windsurf rental and it’s a great place to learn as the water is shallow and protected from a reef so there are no big waves. But if you like to swim this is maybe not a place for you?! We just walked out a bit and sat down in the water! For kids it’s perfect! It’s possible to snorkel here although there are much better places on the island. We drove to Rum Runners one night and there you see really big fish right from the restaurant! At Karel’s you also see a lot of fish whilst eating and the sunsets are wonderful on this side of the island. It is also less windy, so if you don’t like to have strong wind 24 h a day you might find the other side of the island better. It is still windy there but not as much. My husband was unfortunate and stepped on a coral when getting off his surfboard, he went to the hospital in the city and they stitched the wound with 3 stitches. The foot got very swollen and after 3 days they gave him anti-biotics and even with them it took a long time to get the foot back to its normal size. What we later found out was there were still a lot of pieces of coral in his foot. That they didn’t x-ray the foot before they stitched it up is increadible. They must have so many accidents like this here every year and one might think they would have the expertice, but apparently not. After two weeks my husband had to fly back to Switzerland to have a CET and surgery. So in retrospect, it would have been saved us a lot of time and pain to fly back directly to have it fixed back home with competent doctors... They hotel offer massages with a girl called Johana. She is one of the best massage therapists I ever had (and I had many due to my problematic back!) She is super sweet and will directly feel where your tensions are and release them! The hotel also offer Yoga with another girl who is also fantastic! Her name is Jane and with her I learned Vinyasa yoga. It is such a perfect location, you look right at the ocean, and she was great in giving instructions for the movements and to find that quiet place within. There are some lizards living at the hotel too. They are friendly (although they look a bit scary!) but they turned out to be quite nice! They ate our coriander plant and also liked small pieces of apple that we gave them! If I have to say something less positive about the hotel it would be that our shower was in a bad shape and also had to be fixed during our stay. (And the way it was ”fixed” was interesting... island style!) And the room gets very sandy as it is located on the beach. The wifi is not super, it turns on and off all the time, and we stayed quite close to the restaurant/reception (in room #11). But all in all we were super happy with our stay here and I would love to...
Read moreMy wife and I just returned from spending 5 nights at this resort. Strong points include the location away from congestion, setting on a very pretty (and very shallow) bay that is outstanding for windsurfing. Within 2 miles of the resort we could reliably spot groups of flamingos rooting in marshy areas off the road - and plenty of wild donkeys happy to take our carrots. The rooms were simple but comfortable, and the daily cleaning service was excellent. The Reef Bar (an entity independent from the resort itself) is a beautiful open air setting - had one excellent and one mediocre dinner there - free breakfasts were quite nice.||On a less positive note, I agree with a review submitted August 2025 that the word "Luxury" in the resort name belies an underlying spotty service performance, particularly at the front desk/admin level. The first sign of struggle was in the failure of the resort to request the balance due 30 days prior to our arrival - which I recognized only 3 weeks prior, and raised concerns that I had made an error in the reservation. 2 emails sent on consecutive days were ignored - eventually requiring a phone call placed by me in order to confirm the reservation and send the balance due. The staff is comprised of a large number of interns from a hotel/hospitality program in the Netherlands, many of whom appeared unhappy - and many of whom struggled with basic functions such as checking us in, and out, of the resort. There are no dedicated staff for such things as moving luggage to and from rooms (I carried both ways), or responding to service requests reliably (unfixed coffee maker, failure to make a restaurant reservation). ||A second point relevant to the "luxury" moniker is that day visitors are welcomed, and provided with access to the beachfront cabanas and lounges located directly in front of our "Premium Oceanfront Beach House". We were told at the start of our stay that only 5 of the 25 beach house units were rented, but on 2 of the 4 full days we spent at this resort, the parking lot was nearly full and all of the cabanas directly in front of us occupied. Several other resorts we checked on had security gates and did not allow visitors in - more consistent with a luxury accommodation.||This resort has the potential to be a premium destination, but there's a good bit of...
Read moreWe first booked in March 2021 when this was Sorobon Beach Resort but cancelled owing to travel restrictions during COVID-19 pandemic.||The resort has changed hands since and has been nicely renovated and improved. It is now the Sorobon Luxury Beach Resort.||We had a premium ocean front beach house with amazing views of the bay. The small well-equipped kitchen is ideal for breakfast and lunch. In the evenings we dined at the Reef Bar where the food is delicious. The electric power sockets in the beach house are the European two-pin socket. I had assumed, in error, that the socket would be an American flat pin type. If you are from UK, please bring an adaptor for 2 round pins.||We bought groceries at the Van Den Tweel supermarket in Kralendijk. We asked the front desk to arrange a return trip by taxi as we did not rent a car.||Lac Bay is a nature reserve, part of the Bonaire marine park. It is also a windsurfing holiday destination, a perfect place to learn as the water is shallow. The southern half of the bay is waist deep, good for windsurfing. The north and west side of the bay are deeper and better for wing foiling. We rented from the Dunkerbeck Pro Center, a water sports centre at the resort. Resort guests are entitled to 20% discount for rentals by the day. Various lessons are available but these are not discounted. ||Outside the Sorobon Luxury Resort.||Next to the resort is Jibe City, a water sports centre. The popular Hangout Beach Bar is located here. Further along is Sebastian’s Beach Cafe. We had a pizza there.||Further north, at the deep end of the bay, is Frans Paradise water sports school and hire centre. This is a better place to do wing foiling as the lagoon is deep and not crowded.||Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Sorobon Luxury Beach Resort. The location is ideal for enjoying the nature reserve and water sports. It is busy during the day with windsurfers and cruise ship visitors but at night it is tranquil and very relaxing. We like to mention Maria, our friendly room attendant, for her...
