Interesting, unique concept for a motel/ apartment. We enjoyed our stay here. The units are fully equipped for a long stay. Featuring a full kitchen, outfitted with everything you need. Beds are nice, comforters are soft & comfortable. Nice sized bathroom and shower. Our unit lacked A/C. Tried leaving the sliding door open for ventilation which resulted in flies and bees getting in the room. So we were not able to leave it open. Had to deduct a star due to the T.V. and satellite not working. Reception was terrible. It wasn't working when we checked in. Never got fixed. Frustrating. Very small sink. And no real shelf space next to the sink. There was a small shelf over the toilet. There are restaurants, coffee shop and convenience store right next door which is nice. Would I stay here again...IDK...I might just drive into Akaroa. Lots of restaurants there. Dolphin tours. More expensive though... Enjoyed our stay here. The owner...

The silo was cool and had a lot of amenities. It was also clean and cozy. Unfortunately, we didn't discover until later, the toilet wasn't flushing properly, plus we were shorted a towel which was brought to us around 9 pm. Also had to wait for someone to bring us the keys when we got there at 5 pm. At the time we checked in, the water was out, but it was fixed by the time we got back to dinner. Maybe because of the silo acoustics, every sound seemed amplified.

Addendum: keys were brought quickly after our call. Lacking towel was noticed by husband and proprietor at 5 pm on walk through of unit at 5 pm. Proprietor said he would get another towel for us. Message reminder sent later around 9 for towel which arrived quickly after that reminder. I didn't notify about toilet when it was discovered around 10 pm as we were getting ready to go to sleep after a long travel day. Nice to know it got fixed for...

If your looking for something different you have to stay here. This place is awsome. The entire concept is so NOT your ordinary motel stay. We stayed in Silo no.1 which had a lovely serene view of the hills and the night sky while you lay in a very comfortable bed. The silo was clean and tidy and very functional with full cooking facilities, separate loo and well appointed ablutions. The instructions/information manual for the tv e.t.c is very clear and written with a good sense of humor. Little River is on the way to Akaoura, offering bike trails, walking tracks, scenic drives, options for dining and an art gallery. So break the journey and spend a night in one of these unique silos. We wish the owners all the success in the world to keep running such a unique...

Update: Please don't lie and try to gaslight people. You knew upon our arrival at 5pm that you had failed to give us enough towels, and told me when you arrived after 9pm that you had forgotten about them. It felt like we were inconveniencing you, so when we discovered that the toilet didn't work (which you admit was a known issue), we decided to just go to bed and leave as soon as possible in the morning. Lying to and about guests is not a good business strategy. This is a cool concept, but there are a few issues. We stayed in #9, and the biggest problem was the toilet not flushing anything down. The Wi-Fi was weak and unreliable. It was raining and windy, and the silo was very loud. There are no shelves or counters in the bathroom, and only a tiny sink.
