The food is very good, but from sitting down to getting it - took almost an hour. We were told it was because "it was very busy" although the place wasn't even entirely full. The problem is the main thing to order there is pizza and those go into the oven one by one, so just with having a few parties that wanted to eat at the same time - we were left waiting for so long we thought they had misplaced our order... Salmon fillet on a salad - amazingly good, well made, flavourful, but not a dish that is enough as a full meal. The pizzas were not bad at all. The mushroom one a bit too salty. With 4 people having 3 pizzas and the salmon - we were almost all full in the end. Would have ordered a little something else so we wouldn't need to go home and eat something, but we actually needed to get home and did not have another 40min to wait for another order. Staff are very friendly (although for the extreme lateness we got an apology, not compensation) and the place is well decorated and feels very nice to sit in and maybe have a drink (we didn't - one of us was driving, two were under-age), but if you are in any hurry at all to get anywhere, or just to eat - maybe this is...

Quaint as this place feels, wonderful as the service feels, the kitchen limits the overall feels to 3*. Not disastrous, but.. The toastada is as advertised. The pakora emerge as pakora crumbs, with maybe 4 small pieces managing to form a mouthful. And they're slightly burnt, which makes the oils ...well...linger. The gurnard is a decent single piece, but the thicker than optimal batter means that the fish hangs about in the fryer longer than you'd wish. The chips are not to order, warm and soggy. The tiramusu would pass muster if not for the commercial chocolate sauce used in the soaking mix. The padre Cafe from which this place derives does a better job across the board. The burgers look a wiser choice. Good drinks list, and really terrific...

It’s a shame when everyone else at the table has beautiful meals they are enjoying. Unfortunately it wasn’t my experience with the pork dish I ordered. $35 for the driest 4 tiny slices of pork belly, 2 tempura broccoli and rice (lots of rice, when you compare it to everything else in the plate) - as the most expensive dish on the menu this was definitely a miss flavour wise, presentation and value. I was shocked they would serve something like this, but to be fair I probably should have sent it back. My cocktail was quite boozy, which I appreciate, but my partner’s tasted less strong. Everyone enjoyed their burgers, but just a bit pricey for pub/finger food. Just go simple here, I think you can’t go wrong with...

Top of the TOND The One Next Door is a definite must stop if you are passing through little river. Popped by tonight with family and friends for a bite. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the most delightful server - Peyton. We ordered the salt and pepper squid, they accompanied it with the best side sauce I have ever had. It was chief’s KISS. Followed by pizzas to share. The Morrison and the Cam. 10/10 Wish we took photos but they looked so good we just dived straight in. To finish a refreshing pina colada cheesecake. Very moreish. The vibe, the atmosphere and quality of food along the amazing and friendly staff. It is so refreshing and nice to know Little River has this wee gem on their doorstep.

"The One Next Door" in Akaroa (or nearby, on the route) sounds like a fantastic find for anyone journeying between Akaroa and Christchurch. It seems to hit that sweet spot of offering diverse and delicious food in a welcoming setting. The menu appears to cater to a range of tastes, which is always a plus when traveling with companions. You highlighted the lovely burgers, pizzas, and the Asia-style chicken teriyaki. Parking is just right in front of the restaurant. Convenient if you travel with kids or senior citizens.
