We stayed here 4 nights. A very warm welcome from the lady behind the desk who was very helpful. The motel is older but inviting, well furnished and very clean. A spacious room with a comfortable bed, 2 chairs & coffee table plus dining setting for 2, a full kitchen attached (full stove & large fridge was excellent). All cooking utensils are provided including a microwave and cleaning items like washing up detergent & tea towel. Iron & ironing board provided. Tea coffee Sugar (Milk on the first day only) were provided. The internet was unlimited, free & fast compared to most motels we have stayed at. There were little extras like magazines to read, DVD player, extra information available in the room (plus an abundance at reception), a phone book, bible in the drawer which we appreciated so it felt homely. The bathroom was spacious and all on one level so would suit wheel chairs and walkers ( with a fold down seat in the shower as well. Only 10 minutes drive to the city so we found this place very convenient and we thought the value for money was excellent. There are 2 shopping centres a short drive away but there were also a few shops less than 100m away (bakery, meat and fruit and vege market) plus the warehouse across the road where you can buy milk and limited food items. Free parking is available but I would imagine it would be quite "tight" to move if the motel was full. The road is quite busy so you would hear some road noise from 6am in the front units. We didn't find it disturbing towards the back. No laundry for guests that we could find. We would definitely stay here...
Read moreWe chose this motel mainly because of the location – we wanted a place from where we could comfortably access both central Christchurch and Banks peninsula. Earnslaw was perfect in that sense – it was between the two. The reviews were so and so but as there was not much choice left 2 days before our arrival in the area, we took the chance. The start was not good – there was a mix up in the booking system (we used booking.com) and the motel was overbooked. Damn! Fortunately we arrived quite early and therefore were given the last available room (tough luck for those who came after us).||||Despite the complicated situation, the receptionist was really joyful and helpful and made us very welcome. And it was uphill from there. Our room was really large, well actually there were 3 rooms with 2 large beds and 1 small one. And there were only two of us. All 3 rooms were impeccably clean and the beds really comfortable, the kitchen was fully equipped and bathroom very spacious. Wifi was ok and as our room was almost furthest from the road, it was also quiet at night. Parking outside was kind of tight but there was always at least one spot available. So all in all we stayed there for 2 nights and had actually nothing to complain about. Quality/price ratio was very good and I would definitely stay there again if ever in...
Read moreWe picked this motel for our mini break in Christchurch. The staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was a problem. It was also reasonably priced being well within our budget. Our room was comfortable with a comfortable queen bed in the main room and two singles in the second room. The bathroom was roomy and the shower was wonderful. There was a separate toilet. Our unit also had a well equipped kitchen so you could easily self cater if you chose to cook at home. Although this motel is located on a busy road, we did not hear any road noise during our stay. The begonias in the pots are amazing and give a splash of colour to the surroundings. Riccarton Mall was nearby which was one of our first stops and there is a Warehouse right across the road for all the things you have...
